Fun! And not (that) Typical.

This isn't everyday BL. The uke isn't whiny and the seme isn't crazy possessive. They react pretty normally. There are some elements of standard BL, but this is seriously a lot better than the usual fare. It's fun and light, but way toned down from the generic, psychotic BL.

My favorites were the main story. And Nanase trusted his boyfriend! Revolutionary!). I also loved the one with the two ridiculously tall guys (like 6' 5" and 6' 6"). Tall guys amuse me greatly. I'd read a whole book about those two!

I didn't care much for the doctor and the kid (ew...), and I didn't feel very interested in the android story.

But the rest was hugely entertaining, and I'm giving it a 9! The art was cute and the characters rocked.

i thought this was a fairly insipid story and didn't really care to read the second volume, but eh, i was bored. and i am glad i did, since fujiyama actually managed to pull it out of insipid territory and gave it a little depth. it's still nowhere near her later manga, and i would strongly recommend to read it BEFORE anything else she created. that'll really highlight how much she has grown as an artist since; both as regards storytelling and drawing. i didn't particularly care for her art in this, while i love what she's become.

I really liked this entire series, but is it really over? Somehow I feel there should be a story about Mizusawa Yamato and Saijo... not necessarily together since he ended it so roughly. I just feel that entire arc is incomplete.

i really didnt like ookouchi he was such a jerk, and why in the world did Nanase start hanging out with him, and talking about his relationship? it annoyed me when ookouchi (spoiler) asked nanase to have sex with him to experiment sex between men, and Nanase said no but he seemed to take the offer so seriously, shouldnt it offend him that a guy would ask to sleep with him when that guy knows that he has a boyfriend? im also not sure why nanase avoided Heiji for so long. oh well besides that it was a cute story.

I loved it. I liked it a lot more than the spin-off Rakka Sokudo, although I really liked Sunflower, too. Her characters were just very honest and very sweet. I loved Nanase the best, especially in the second volume. His airheadedness, his honesty...just...OMG...I couldn't stop laughing. xD She said she wants to develop Furuya and Aikawa's relationship further...sequel? Oh, I hope so!

Enjoyed as an early work of mangaka

This review is for Ordinary Crush 1 & 2, English language translation. I think it helped that I was able to get copies of Ordinary Crush 1&2 and the sequels Freefall Romance and Sunflower. I like longer, sustained stories. In Ordinary Crush, I thought the main couple was interesting and cute, but it was the side couples that intrigued me. I found the Ordinary Crush art and main storyline a bit simple for my taste, but following the side characters into other, more mature books helped. Overall, I found it an enjoyable series that I would not skip as it informs the side volumes.

Entertaining and I love the art work so the traditional story line was good enough. Both volumes were good. I really liked the spin-off Rakka Sokudo
