Description

From Viz:
One day, Haruhi, a scholarship student at exclusive Ouran High School, breaks an $80,000 vase that belongs to the "Host Club," a mysterious campus group consisting of six super-rich (and gorgeous) guys. To pay back the damages, she is forced to work for the club, and it's there that she discovers just how wealthy the boys are and how different they are from everybody else.

Includes 4 chapters of the story "Romantic Egoist" in various volumes, starring a pair of twins who play matchmaker with their fellow students, teachers and the like.

to the other 80 reviews here. I just want to say how much I love this manga. There is something cliche about it on the outside, but at the same time, underneath, the manga seems to be subverting these cliches by embracing its ridiculousness. It also helps that the manga has such a cool and aloof heroine in Haruhi who is very aware how over the top the host club can be. I also loved how the characters interact with each other and care about each other. I love the Tamaki and Kyoya friendship and scenes involving their friendship gets me choked up with emotion. Though Tamaki is the main male character, much attention is paid to the other host club members. And we do find out later that behind Tamaki's "we're a family" attitude that we all find funny and silly is a deeper emotion and a psychological repercussion of his childhood experiences. The manga starts off typical and silly, but as the story progresses, the layers seem to come off to show something deeper.

what can i say that others haven't??
it's really well drawn.
the romance is a bit slow but anyhow it's really good.
ALOT of humor that would make you laugh really hard.
the heorine is awesome! and not a push over and really strong and smart
the other characters have different personalities that make each of them stand out.
overall...a really good manga!
recommend for a really good laugh

Initially, when you start out reading the manga, it might be a slight turn off to some people because it does have a lot of things going on in one panel, hence, you might be forced to try to absorb all the events that are occurring at once.

However, after some time, you will probably get used to it and realize that it isn't that bad at all. Please don't let this slight glitch turn you off completely from the manga.
I love the Ouran Koukou Host Club story due to the characters and the story.

Haruhi, like many have mentioned, isn't like the typical 'damsel in distress' sort of heroine, which is a completely refreshing take after chugging through so many mangas which made their heroine teary, defenseless, weak and very whiny.

Tamaki, while initially annoying(I did find him sort of annoying initially), grows on you as a character. He's not the average 'I am so cool it hurts' guy you always tend to see in shoujo mangas. He is, how shall I put it , an idiot? a goofball? eccentric? overdramatic? A little bit of all of that.
The twins! Ah, the twins. I love the twins. Later in the novel, we see an arc where the twins go through the phase where they start to become less of 'a set' and more as 'individuals'

This manga, is essentially, a growing up tale. Finding love, discovering love, understanding feelings, relationships, dealing with the world as an adolescent. A humorous glimpse of how these characters deal with the everyday problems that they face as adolescents.

I love this story so much.
I do hope people would read it and grow to love it.

And don't judge a manga by its anime, and vice versa.

My only complaint that I'm going to mention (among the many I've accumulated), is that THEY NEVER AGE! Haruhi and the Hitachiin twins should already be in their third year of high school. Even if they're all needed characters throughout the series, the author could at least put an on-campus university and have the hosts go there, and comntinue hosting. Even though it would mean at least two new hosts would have to be introduced, it's better than them STAYING THE SAME AGE FOR ALL OF ETERNITY!!!!

One of my favorite manga

I love this manga. Haruhi is definitely one of a kind. She's not the typical bubbly-type, she's not the "tough" type, nor is she the pathetic type: She's a strong and an intelligent girl.

All of the characters are lovable, and I think the romance in this story is really cute. Haruhi is slowly realizing her feelings for the host's leader (sorry, forgot his name) but a love triangle evolves because Hikaru confesses!

Than the host's leader started to realizes his feelings for Haruhi is not "fatherly" (lol) but real love... And that's where it ended...

I can't wait for the next chapter.

I was like many others, watched the anime and wasn't satisfied with the ending. Then continued up with the manga 🙂 This manga has all my favorite genres which is awesome!! This by far is the only manga so far that litterally makes me laugh out loud with tears from laughter. I love it! The art is great and you get so caught up with the characters and I adore every single one of them 🙂 It's all bishie heaven by the way and I love haruhi who isn't like other girls in other stories...ick. She's an individual not a complainer and well you get my point probably >< This is a definite read!! You keep on wanting more, and if you take a break from it for a while, (like me) you find yourself yearning for Ouran. Missing it. Overall this is one of my favorites and always will be!!

The only manga I ever found that can keep me up, shaking with suppressed laughter, at three o'clock in the morning... (on second thought, change that to five o'clock in the morning).

One of my favorite mangas of all time! I really really love all the host club members! They are all so handsome and really funny.Tamaki's idiocy is the best!The story is very unique and refreshing.I like the way the author developed the characters as the story progresses. A must read manga!
