Description
Official English: INKR Comics, Azuki

Makoto is suddenly confessed to by her narcissistic childhood friend Kikuchi Reita. Not even just any confession, he stands in the street and publicly says «If you want a boyfriend that badly, I don't mind going out with you.» Which was obviously a no, since Makoto has never considered Reita to be a man, especially a man of interest. What will become of her daily life now that Reita insists on her going out with him?

Your typical shoujo that gives you that anti-wholesome feeling when you think about it

Enjoyed the female lead.

On the opposite end of the spectrum from reviews here, I liked following the female lead, her thought processes and insecurities, and finding a balance where she works it out. She's one of the more relatable female leads in shoujo manga and does not simp over the male lead because he's popular and handsome. The ML is interesting as well because despite being regarded as popular for his face he's somewhat quirky and an idiot, not boring like most shoujo MLs.

People complain about the female protagonist, but...

I am getting tired of male protagonists who are forceful and pushy and downright mean. He literally gaslights her. Rejecting him is no excuse! The descriptions say he's a narcissist - that's not a good thing. In what universe is his behavior okay?? It doesn't matter if he loves her. This is a common trend I find in manga that drives me up the wall. Manga has a tendency to portray these guys as attractive. They are confident men who know whats best for her and go for what they want - they're bold! They're also jerks. Long rant short - cliche asshole protagonist, cliche female protagonist who lets him inch his way into her heart even though she's got perfectly good options out there. Why on Earth these men are so committed to winning her over? I don't know.

SUCH AN ANNOYING Female Lead

Why is it that shoujo (directed towards female audiences) always have to have annoying female leads? If it's directed towards females, can we at least put some genuinely likable female leads in there, huh, mangakas? This girl was at first a pretty likeable girl but then she just goes and ruins it for herself by her inability to think properly. She's basically a coward and too stubborn to think that the guy actually likes her because she just wants to remain childhood friends because of some "twisted" background story with her dad (even though she has explicitly said that she likes him so I don't understand why the mangaka even bothered to include that part if it was just going to be ignored in future chapters...?)...Honestly, this manga probably makes 0 sense and I literally want to throw my chair out of the window out of frustration for such unbearable female leads like this girl. My God.

with a super annoying female lead and a little interesting male lead, this manga is a cliche shoujo but really boring. I just stopped reading at chapter 13, it makes me desperate!

Train wreck

Train wreck from beginning to end. Transparent and lazy and reinforces most of the worst shoujo tropes. Of course the guy is a popular womanizing jerk. Of course the protagonist is an exception, unlike all other shallow girls. Of course she's not allowed to even entertain the possibility that someone might like her. Of course any of her attempt at fighting back his attention is out of tsundereness and will result in absolute disaster. Of course then he's gonna swoop in to rescue her from her stupidity and selfishness in thinking she can make her own decisions.

There are shoujo that I love and there are shoujo that make perfectly fine guilty pleasure. And then there are the absolute lowest common denominators of the genre, like this one.

Why is it that all the boys like walls? (to corner girls with their arms)

Well the summary looked a lot of fun! Why can't such boys be MY childhood friends?! I might even give him a different answer! Though if he worded it exactly that, it's doubtful! Can't wait for future chapters and maybe an otome game based on this one! Wheee

But... after reading the first chapter, I started to feel just a wee bit irritated. Like where do teenage boys get off acting so annoying and overbearing and girls (who seemed headstrong from the get go) end up going along for the ride coz of silly school reasons... I don't know, I'm not knocking the title, just saying that maybe if you're not super into school romances, this may just rub you the wrong way.

Kicks off pretty funny. [Tbc]

Yeah, I have to admit, that although the storyline and setting is well-known by Shoujo readers, it's pulled off pretty funny. The drawing style of the artist is clean, the characters well designed and the panels flow is nicely, too. Even though there are other Shoujos, that have a more distinctive appeal to me, the artwork is okay.

The characters are likeable, especially the big mouth Reita made me laugh a few times out loud, when he throws one of his narcisstic lines in out of the blue. Lol. For the main characters it's similar, but hopefully we get to see more of her tomboyish ways, because so far she is kind of put aside by her counterparts strong personality.
