Good Read!

While the artist taking over the project did result in a noticeable alteration of the main character's personalities...namely, the MC suddenly took on a sociopathic depth to him that was kind of unexpected, considering his characterization in the first volume was still relatively standard.
However, the egotistical protagonist does make for a really interesting character, especially when he subverts many of the usual MC characteristics.
It's also true the manga forgot about Kai....but he comes back! No worries! (Though it kind of felt more like the artist woke up one day and remembered again, rather than it was in the plan from the beginning to leave him out for what, 5 volumes?
The pacing is really good, the conflict genuinely has high stakes, backstories are overwhelmingly angsty, but not melodramatic, and everyone ACTUALLY is intelligent! Even the ?antagonists? are damn resourceful, and it really shows that a lot of thought was put into planning the story.

As stated by a poster below, the characters are slowly revealed and not that easy to understand.
Most interesting is the MC. He's a very hard to read character. The fun we have in figuring him out is half the fun of the series.
As for rating, it really depend on your own taste. If you like a easily understandable character, and a interesting story, you will be DISAPPOINTED. This manga is about characters, not story.

Originally this story was made by one author, but then he dropped it, and Ajin was taken over by artist, who continued to work on this project alone. And it became BETTER, not worse.
Also not all characters are as bad as what was said by previous reviewer. It just took some time to reveal their personalities, and motives behind their actions. Though main character is still a 'dark horse'. Only bits and pieces of his inner world is revealed here and there. He isn't a typical MC - he doesn't want to be a hero, to be friends with everyone, to be friends with his enemies, to become next Hokage, or to save the world, etc. All he wants is to survive. He's an egotist, but that doesn't make him a bad guy.
Other characters also have reasons for their actions, even main villain Sato.
Though indeed majority of humans in this story are ignorant idiots, and inert herd of cattle. They didn't care about atrocities that government and scientists committed towards ajins, they don't care what horridities were done, as long as it doesn't involve them directly - exactly like humans in real world.
Overall, good art, nice concept and even better execution. Much better than Tokyo Ghoul.

This was good for a few chapters, but suddenly the characters' personalities all changed with no buildup or reasoning, characters and plotlines just got flat out dropped and forgotten too.
Turns out the writer left the project and the artist took over the writing of it, hence why everything was suddenly handled horribly and everything felt jarring compared to what came before.
Definitely not worth a read if you enjoy narrative consistency.

Fans of this series may be happy to know that Verticle Inc., the English publishers behind The Flowers of Evil and Gundam: The Origin, has officially licensed Ajin. If you're unfamiliar with this publisher, all you've really gotta know is that they put out really high-quality translations (just look at Gundam: The Origin when you've got a chance).

Wow this is really good! It only has three volumes so far though and only two of these volumes have been translated into English, so the story has only just started. It's really good so far, the art is great and the story line is really original and intriguing. A lot of questions have been set that are yet to be answered and I can't wait for more of this manga. When more volumes come out I can see this manga gaining heaps more popularity.

This is damn amazing. Everything is so fast paced and entertaining. The characters react the way I want them to react the normal times and just take me by surprise and make me go "WOW!!" the other times. So in other words everything in this manga is progressing smoothly and A+ for the mangaka for making me dislike humanity more than already do. I can just see them acting the same way in real life.

very deep analysis into the human psyche from author's own perspective..
i say from his own perspective because everyone is bound to have somewhat varying views of humanity, therefore no matter how agreeable, it still comes down to one's view and one's only, but i would say he truly shows depth in his analysis of how the human mind works, how self interest and motivation manifests itself in a person's action especially in life or death situations and on that i can do little but express a great amount of respect, for those who possess artistic skills along with full fledged, well matured world views are rare and far in between.
you will find his drawing style both realistic yet artistic. at the same time he has obviously pondered about the world and what humanity is. i am sure he has struggled with those complexities countless times. he may not be a philosopher, but it's probably as close as one would get while being at the same time a highly skilled manga artist. this work simply sets him apart. the title is sure to join my treasured manga book collection

But I'm already loving this!
I'd update my review when more chapters comes out
