Ai's personality wasn't that bad although the idea that physical beauty is valued strongly etc etc is not to my liking, her character was funny and surprising. I also think that changing yourself and having the courage to completely "Re-do" your appearance is a plus (not a necessity in entirely). The manga started out okay then it got a bit annoying past volume 4 and when she was almost a slave to her "love". The manga is not really that bad but not exactly good either, the art is okay albeit a bit bias towards the guys. The girls were drawn a lot better than the guys--I even think Ai was very pretty, I especially loved the covers.

Yes, it's rushed and there were some sides to it that needed to be polished. The one thing I really hate about this manga was So's personality at the end. His attitude towards the relationship was simply horrible. And Ai is an idiot for staying with someone who has chosen other women TWICE over her and not even properly apologizing for it.

For the plot and characters I'd give it a 5 or even a 4 but because I liked the art I'd give it a 7.

'Doubt!!' revolves around 15-year-old, Ai Maekawa, and her quest to become beautiful. After an embarrassing experience in middle school, she severs ties with her old life, and gets accepted into a high school where know one knows of her or her past. During the break between middle and high school she focuses on becoming beautiful for her high school debut. When she arrives, she gets exactly what she wished for.

I don’t quite understand why so many people are upset with this manga. Sure, the whole premise of it seems a bit superficial, but I don’t believe ‘Doubt!!” is really meant to be taken too seriously. It's so much fun to read! I love the characters and there are moments where it’s really cute/hilarious. I'm definitely enjoying it so far.

This one will leaving you doubting why you read it (bad pun intended)! Superficial manga in which ugly duckling Ai is "ugly" no matter what she looks like. Really a stinker. Waste of time and download effort. Can't believed this was published when there are so many better manga to bring to the US!

its filth like this which encourages girls to hate themselves for not being pretty and therefore never being able to get a boyfriend! basically saying if your not pretty your worthless and unless you change you'll never be happy. I hated this manga the art was nothing special, the lead was annoying, the message behind the manga was appalling. It was also realllyyy boring

It has all the wrong stuff:-
- Skin deep beauty priority/superficiality/"looks are everything" principle
- Girls fighting over a guy, Sigh! wen will this genre disappear?
- Hide ur past to keep up an appearance
- plot to bag a guy
- women are bitches that have nothing better to do than to fight other women over one selfish/arrogant high schooler(Please GAWD! r all shoujo mangakas misogynists? very low esteem of female characters)


But the author has a sense of humour which is why this is tolerable...

Bleh.. I didn't really like this manga 'cause it pissed me off a lot. The description made it appear very interesting but while reading it, I got really bored and annoyed.. The art was really weird in my opinion and I hated how the artist drew So lip.. it made him look like a freaking ape. Take my advice and don't read this manga. Unless you like boring worthless manga like this. =D

this manga is a good, but not amazing. its about two people in love and how they deal with each other in a relationship. i felt like the plot was rushed, and it kinda left some things unsolved. the art is OK, not beautiful [ like the cover ]. but i do like how the heroine and the hero arent the typical manga heroes. i dont want the boyfriend to be hopeless in love with his girlfriend, and the girl to be the boy's totally pet. its up to you to read the manga. if you want to read it, read it. if you don't, then you don't. its not a MUST READ manga. your not missing anything BIG if you dont read it.

doubt...plays with the emotional insecurities of an average female teenager. instead of promoting the idea that you should accept yourself to who you are it tells you in order to 'bag the guy like' you gotta define yourself from plain and be pretty.

of course theres nothing wrong with being groomed and liking to look nice. being attracted to another person's beauty also does not necessary make you 'shallow' either.
but you dont have to be so high maintenance, put on loads of make up and starve yourself crazy just to get a boyfriend that you love and loves you back!

all in all, the main theme to the story is complete BULL. but if you're convinced you're not going to be influenced by the superficial things the heroine is into, then go for it...

oh and SO is a mean idiotic selfish loser that cares about no one BUT himself.

I think the reasons for the mixed reviews are due to the information that the mangaka gives in her little boxes. There are a couple points that she specifically said she's changing the direction of the story but if you didn't read it your lost. I really liked the story even though it did have some twists.

i was totally bored with nothing to read when i picked up this manga and saw that there were mixed reviews for it. i read most of the beginning, skipped through the middle and read most of the end.......it totally SUCKED! i hated it all the way to the end...especially the end. The female lead totally does not know when to quit on that idiotic @$$ called her boyfriend who doesn't take their relationship seriously. i most definitely would not recommend this to anyone who has decent taste in manga, and if you did happen to like it, then all i habve to say is good for you! you didn't waste your time like me! although i have to say that there were a few LOL parts in the series.
