Negima is only in the beginning a harem Ecchi cliche. The chapter wich come out now are way more Action cliche and less harem(becuse its still a Girl school) but that dont mean its completly gone. Negima has changed much since the beginning but honestly its only switched cliche main part from harem to Action the only thing thats havnt realy changed was the ecchiness.
But thats only my opinion.

Wait, so Negima switches from being a harem to a shounen like that? Is the switch as bad as when Happy World went from being a harem to a seinen?

maybe spoiler

Spoiler (highlight to view)
Not realy bad becuse it was slow and not Happy World like.
Becuse Negi is looking for his father he starts training and then more and more fights was fought. and less harem scences
And when they go to the Magic world there was one fight after an other and i have the feeling that its slowy get to a Action manga like Bleach or naruto.
There is suddenly blood in the battel Negi learns Dark Magic and the "Evil guy who want to destroy the world"

I was a little irritated when a frind ask me when Negima Changed so much

@loosecannon504 btw i think your signatur is epic cool

I'll have to check it out them. Normally I don't like Ken Akamtasu's work, but the way you described it in your spoiler makes it seem interesting.

And I'm glad you like my signature. Anything with Stephen Colbert is epic. cool

EDIT: Well, now it's Ryu. laugh

Rosario+Vampire was pretty bad........

But also that... Muhyo and Ryoji thing...

Really, probably at least half of Shounen Jump, if not all of it. (Don't get me wrong, I still read a lot of SJ ^^)

Classic shounen cliches:

(Most Cliche Characters and fights/plot)
The works by Mashima Hiro... notably Rave master and Fairy tail..(Hiro's mangas are even more cliche than Bleach, Onepiece and naruto..)
Toriko (SHIMABUKURO Mitsutoshi)

Classic Shoujo cliches
(Most Cliche Characters and plots)
The works by Tanemura Arina....

Hmmm... can't give any exact examples but:

a lot of manga from almost every demographic/genre(seinen, josei, yuri, yaoi, shounen, shoujo, etc.). Seinen is supposed to be unique but it also has a lot of manga very similar to shounen/shoujo, except for difference of art style and a few minor changes here and there. I guess those don't get scanlated or licensed much.

Well, maybe any manga by Koike Kazuo. I'm not very interested in watching a plot spending pages centering on boring girl on girl or man on girl sex scenes. Hentai does that better, seriously.

Same for a lot of smutty josei: okay there're of course many exceptions but there're a ton of badly written manga where the only point is to have sex and more sex. Or replace "sex" with "romance".

Yuri: oh, all best friends must be lovers. You know, the "fantasy school lovers" stuff. I prefer more grown-up stuff.

Yaoi: there're a lot of good oneshots and series with good understanding of relations between men but there're also plenty of terrible oneshots and series.

Comedy/gag manga: there're plenty which're fun but just as many which're like totally dumb.

"Alternative" or "underground" manga: now these, hmmm... totally nothing from here. Yet.

Oh and yeah, Rosario, Fairy Cube and quite a few others are all bleah.

Kaikan Phrase - it had every single cliché available. As did Akuma de Sourou, but I could stomach it. I stopped reading KP at 9th volume or so, it was just... Argh none .

I agree. I have yet to see one work of Mayu Shinjo that is NOT a cliché, "Ai Ore!" started well, but it's draging too much.

But since i'm stubborn, i'll read till the end xD

I agree Hiro's works are cliché, but even so i have to defend Fairy Tail, even if it copies most of rave master's chars and other mangas , it's still a very good and funny story. The same applies to One Piece and Toriko, though i have to disagree with them being clichés.

Sure, the absurdly strong and clueless main character and his companions (some weak as hell and some just as strong as him) is REALLY cliché, but the story is not, and that's what counts.

Take Toriko as an example it has what all the usual shonen manga have, but he is a FOOD HUNTER who fights monsters to EAT THEM and his dream is to create the FULL COURSE MENU OF HIS LIFE?! i don't know about you, but i think that's is damn original.

*Never mind Rave Master, it plain sucks

QFT - I stopped after chap 35, because I'm just not that masochistic.

All shoujo mangas!!

I disagree! Don't look down on shojo manga. Not all of them r low quality!
Let's look at mangas of Akino Matsuri sensei, eg Genju no seiza, etc
That's shoujo also, but has its own style.
Yazawa Ai with Nana and Paradise Kiss.
Watanabe Taeko with Kaze Hikaru and Hajime-chan ga Ichiban!.

All of them r original ideas. They r not clique. And it is not easy to copy their styles also!!!

hmmm... Im going to say MOST of Shinjo Mayo' stories. Most feature Jerky Jerks and push over females. You find that in a LOT of shoujo (particularly the smutty ones).

Strawberry Panic! or at least the anime was. I feel guilty for liking it.

99% of comedy+ecchi+harem manga are carbon copies. Negima in particular. Hana yori dango, kare kano and the rest of the that genre are pretty similar as well.

This. Haven't read one that was different from the others (Same unlucky everydude has a shy girl, bitch girl, sporty/outgoing girl, and loli/sister wanting him, they travel to exotic places, unlucky everydude does something for one of the girls at the exotic place that would change their opinion of the everydude for the better, but the girl forgets all about it when they get back to their town, unlucky everydude has a "love rival" try to take the girl he wants he most, etc.). Name me one that doesn't have at least 3 of these and I'll read it.

But they're not the most cliched manga I've ever read. Oh no, that special no-prize goes to [m]Maken-ki[/m].

At least it didn't turn out like Love Hina.

I guess the harem and ecchi part is indeed quite clichéd, like what loosecannon said. (Here come the but) But the characters are quite unique though. I mean, how often do you see a 10 year old genius teaching middle school girls when he is actually a mage? The magic blends very well into the story at the start, and now is the focus of the story. I guess Ken Akamatsu also felt that harem would put off readers in the long run and switched to action. I do like this series, so it's just my opinion.
