Trying to search for mangas where the girl goes with the second guy since I'm tired of the same old cliched shoujo plot. (Josei okay, but no smut) Thanks!!

By the same mangaka, Hana Yori Dango.

Can't think of any others off the top of my head. You could try searching for old topics in the forum.

Links ahoy...

Underdog gets the girl~
Shoujo w/ Unpredictable Pairing
Werewolf, not the Vampire

There's a lot more, but too lazy to look for 'em atm lol.
EDIT: Oh my god I'm sorry. Chrome is glitching + the links aren't working properly. Just get rid of the first http://. Or like both of them. OR ADD a http:// because I don't even know anymore what's going on.

How are you defining first guy? 'Cause it's quite clear from the beginning in Hana Yori Dango who was "main guy." It's called "Ji-hoo syndrome" for a reason...

I didn't think so. It's pretty rare in shoujo for the MC to have genuine feelings for one guy and later switch to another guy. It's true that this doesn't happen too late in the story, but to me the eventual love interest starts out more like comic relief (/abusive and freaky) whereas love interest #1 is portrayed more like a male lead.

I'm pretty much defining the 'first guy' as the female lead's first love interest, being that the first love interest in most shoujo manga tends to be the male lead.

Cat Street

Read Cat Street, really enjoyed it, I've been trying to find a manga similar to this but it's just impossible!

Tonari no Atashi it's really nice.

Arcana maybe?? It's a messed up and really confunsing manhwa. I don't know if the guy she ended up with is the second guy, but I sure wasn't expecting that (or hoping for, at least).

Cynical Orange Again, I don't know if he is the second guy, but I wasn't expecting/hoping for her ending up with him.

Love Berrish! maybe?

Momo this one certanly fits.

Paradise Kiss 100% fits.

Click maybe. I don't know if he is the second guy, I don't remember much, except I frigging hated the ending. It was terrible. She didn't end up with the right one for her.

Uwasa no Midori-kun!! THIS ONE, THANK GOD. I found the manga bad and annoying, but the ending is perfect.

Thank for the suggestions! I'll definitely give Momo a try!

Well, there are not a lot that comes to mind, but maybe Stardust Wink and Dear Waltz ? Hope that I could at least help... but you are damn right about trying to search for this kind of stories because the second guy always seems better !

Since I just finished it, it's the first to pop up in mind: Principal but it's a really bitter-sweet manga and very Ikuemi Ryou, quite different so if you'd like to try something refreshing then it's quite good ^^
