@Highway-STAR: Actually seeing a Tortov guy is awesome.

I've read Kaijuu no Kodomo (which is excellent, by the way, and I plan to preorder Viz's release), but I'll check out the next three at the next opportunity I get, thanks. Ponent Mon licenses are always good, but they're hard to find around these parts.

Kino is among my all-time favorite anime.

@jpnraw: I'll take a look. +anima sounds somewhat similar, but I'd have to read it first. Asklepios and Monster Soul don't really look or sound like what I'm asking for- the art is important here, as it's an essential piece of the environment. Take a look at some of the examples I've posted if you want a general idea for any reason at all. I appreciate the effort though.

You should try The Yellow Book, its artsy and a little like Coo but to call it fantasy would be a stretch.

I've actually been planning to read that for a while. Like you said, it's not fantasy, so I didn't include it.
