Do you love your country?

Yes, I do, but I still do believe the government is way just too inefficiently run. You paid those deputies or whoever just so they can yell at each other and diss each other's "project propositions" with precious taxes money in Ottawa, which could have been used to actually go to something more helpful to the real middle class/poor people. shakes fist Meh to them.
However, no one will ever be 100% satisfied with their country's government anyways. They can't please anyone, since money is a scarcity.

haven't been around much lately, hanging around in sweden at the moment.
Hmm, well, for the most I like the german goverment system, and i feel good in berlin. But i don't love my country, or any other.
I don't really see how the verb love actually really apllies to a country. Do i love the land? The People? The goverment? The history? the Language?
To love something really means a lot. I don't really think people should or can love countries. When people say they love their country i think it basicly just means they like living their and have problems adapting to other surroundings.

i live in a third world country. try to guess where.
here we have media people running rampant - they're allowed to say whatever they want to say about anything. they sensationalize news and feed people crap every single day. our tv networks are owned by capitalist freaks who shove stupid martyrdom values in people's heads. our movie industry is dead because all we do is badly imitate Hollywood flicks.
our government is a madhouse. we legislate stupid laws like the anti-terror bill which is basically the law which allows our government to walk all over human rights. we are being robbed in broad daylight by our senators who do nothing but... well, they just do nothing actually.
if you get raped, murdered, robbed or whatever here - don't count on justice. money beats everything so if you don't have it, go to the church and learn how to forgive. that's going to be a hell of a lot easier.
if your sick and you don't have money, the hospital won't treat you. it doesn't matter if you've been hit by a car and is now bleeding all over the ER. if you can't come up with cash quick, you're going to die.
my country is a place where you're supposed to feel pity for incredibly stupid people who have no money, no job and no home and still copulates 24-7 and produces twelve babies that the government has to take care of because it needs the good image.
so trust me, if the only problem you have is weather and bad shopping places, i suggest you visit the a third world country like mine where people have lost their abilities to dream and just pathetically hobbles along, waiting for death.
oh, and to answer the question: my country is great. it's the people who live in it who i hate.

You seem to be pretty well off in your country. I mean for one thing, you have Internet access. You probably own a computer. You must be a person of great morality because even though you are so well in economical status, you still worry about your country men. This is what you called greatness. If only we would have a few more good people like you in the world....

hmm, i'm back on this topic because i reallz think this is an important subject that causes a lot of problems.
Good luck PalaloEristin wherever you are. Sadly that description fits more than one country. I am happy a live in a rich country, and i know its pure luck i am.
Damm, I've tried to write what i feel about countries but i can't get it across. This is my third try:
A country is nothing more than a region that is run by a different goverment system. Thats all. Loving a country is pretty much loving a set of rules. History, cultur, language, food, all that is not bound by borders. Loving a country is about the same as loving your operating system. You need one, it can work well or not, sometimes it can't work because the hard ware is crap ( the situation is the country is crap ), some features you like, some you don't.
This is sort of a plea for people to get less emotional about countries. Anyway, thanks for reading.
I am deffinitly ready to disuss this if anybody wants to, i'm just not at home right now and don*t have al that much internet acces.

I don't like my country either. I'm from Cyprus and if I had anything to do about it I wouldn't set foot back there after university. Unfortunately I have to go, unless I decide to stay in the UK for a Masters and then I get a job.

I like Sweden (where I live right now) except that majority of the people living there don't think like me and i don't like that. But all in all a okey nation as long as the Left come back to power 2010 and undo the damage that is being done right now.
Finland (finnish citizen and will soon move back) I love above all yes they are too right leaning in politics but I still I love that country.

You're from Kuwait?
I've been there before. Well I didn't stay there very long, but I really learned to like it. I wonder how much it changed since I left... been 10 years now I think.

I love the land where I live. But I've lived in another country for 6 years and i loved it as well. One is a rich country, the other was, and still is, rather poor. I learned to value different things in each, life is so totally different that I can't compare them. One is my mother's country, the other is my father's. Which one is really mine, I'm not too sure myself.
In both cases, i think the people (moreover those from government) are narrow minded, sometimes so much so that it's disgusting. But maybe I'm the one who just can't make up her mind.

yeah Bush isn't so popular, but that isn't a reason to hate your country.
@Stealth yeah it changed ALOT in the past ten years, but somethings never change, you know the problem here is that hardly anybody likes to read so manga isn't well known heck not even 1% know what manga is, and if otakus were around they're probably all anime otaku's, not that i mind anime, by the way what were you doing in kuwait ten years ago 1997 hmmm... at about that time alot malls were built.
