I know that many girls go to BL/yaoi because, it has to do a lot with the female mind... seeing something like Fushigi Yuugi is annoying, but I bet if it Miaka was a bishonen, I imagine it would attract more female readers.

Its mainly about taking offense to the female in the story, and if the girl was turned into an uke in a BL manga, the reader would be like "Hey, there are no girls being stupid or raped etc."

And since it is male/male, it leaves room for drama and forbidden love, which girls tend to like.

... I imagine you haven't read many "good" yaoi manga have you? Just the generic stuff you find everyone blathering about like the AarinsFantasy fan-dubs and such...?
