i love physical books. but hell, economy never gets easy on me.
i only buy my fave manga. and getting the unofficial just to spent my time.
though i only buy the licensed manga published in my country. (it's more cheaper than the english ones).

I never thought I would ever buy manga (due to the convenience of scanlations), but once I started buying, I kept buying, and now I have an entire shelf of purchased hardcopies! I guess scanlations actually helped bring me in as a customer because I bought the actual books after 'sampling' them as scanlated digital copies...

I own a lot of mangas. An embarrassingly high amount.
Not only just in English, but in Japanese & in French too.
I also own close to 15 artbooks as well.

Hmm.. This is kinda the same as that one poll not so long ago, though this time it includes digital as well. My collection remains the same as back then since I haven't added any new series to it. I haven't paid for anything digital as of yet.
I also have a few BDs of anime, namely both seasons of Code Geass and Puella Magi Madoka Magika. I also have all English volumes of Spice and Wolf LNs.

Mahou Sensei Negima!
GTO
Ah! My Goddess
Kare Kano
Plus a few randoms like the full color omnibuses for High school of the dead, the two volume collection of Girl Friends, the first book of Urusei Yatsura and some odd books of Maison Ikkoku
I tend to buy in bulk, so when I get something, it'll be like 20+ volumes in a burst.

You're not missing much.
I'm subscribed to Viz and Crunchyroll, and both have garbage, 3rd-rate, unusable readers and occasionally iffy translations. They're also deathly afraid of perceived weabooism, so they localize everything to hillbilly American.
It's sad that a motley assortment of scanlators and free readers provide a far better product than the legal pay sites.
I only subscribe because I have money and it assuages my guilt over not supporting the mangaka. Although buying the physical volumes is a far better way to support them.

I actually stated buying my own manga instead of borrowing from friends only after I started reading scanlations. Now if something Ilike actually becomes available in my country I actually go and buy it. So much for scans destroying the manga industry.

I used to own nearly 1,000 volumes of manga before my brother sold most of them without my consent. That broke my heart. Well, I'm surprise with the no percentage in this poll though, it's more than I thought.

I personally wouldn't mind supporting crunchy roll if they improved their quality. they seem more interested in preventing people from getting their scans than providing good service. Is it that hard to make a usable reader?

I'm not collector in large volumes of mangas. I just collect mangas I deem worthy and COMPLETED (this is a very important factor) unless the series is dropped due to publisher termination.
Also I'm stingy so I don't like to buy mangas that aren't for a good deal (that aspect has stopped me from carelessly buying unworthy mangas too). Therefore I don't even have 100 volumes. I feel stupid for spending on magazines back then though.
Of course if a manga is out of print, there's more urgency for the need to buy.

How is the question ridiculous?
Haven't bought any manga for years.. I used to own all the Dragonball volumes, and some 30-ish One Piece ones. But yeah, it's inconvenient and expensive to do it nowadays. Though I might've bought some Berserk volumes if I knew it would make Miura Kentaro release new chapters faster

I've bought exactly one manga. Only because I couldn't find the full scanlation online. And after I read it, I ended up selling it because it wasn't that good. I've also bought a couple of BL novels. There are a few manga I would buy if they were fully serialized in English, but these are only a handful of my favorites. There's not a big incentive for me to buy manga when I can get it for free.
