The point is guys, history cannot be ignored, yet we must forgive them because times have changed. Besides......Tar Baby might simply be just a fairy tale. Maybe the author didn't intend anything racial. You never know, the greatest conflicts were begun by a simple misunderstanding.

It's based on a African folktale...here's some back up. I remember this from the back of my head because I was compiling international folklore for a paper.

It was about the trickster rabbit being fooled by his enemies with a figure made of tar.

Also, the Disney film predated that novel.
