I have to admit, it's a little offending for me for people to be thinking this way. First of all, having periods is natural, we're not weird gross monsters. You can't even go near your prom date because she has her period? That's not her problem. Rather, it says a lot about you as a person. Second, as I can see from what you said, the girl wasn't even talking directly at you, and it wasn't intentional. She was talking to her mother. What was she supposed to do, use sign language?
