I added yuri just to be fair, and I want guys to vote as well. So yeah if you have a boyfriend/girlfriend what do they feel about you reading yaoi/yuri? Is also directed at past relationships, so keep that in mind when voting.

As for me, guys I've dated in the past knew I read manga but when I showed them yaoi they all ran away...I'm serious! 😢
Some how they always said they wanted to know all of me, me being nice showed them toys and all. They liked the toys but not what I was planning on doing with them. 😀

Poll was inspired by the "lovely" girls at the homely yaoi convo we have here^-^

Well, I was already married before I got into reading yaoi, but my husband doesn't mind at all.

However, I actually voted as: I use the material I learn on him.... 😀

My boyfriend is not a manga and anime fan. He doesn't care that I read and watch them at all. As to the yaoi I read, I think he probably watches more guys than I do. Just think of all the sports he's been watching all the time. 😀

Luna, you don't have to show them the content of what you read. If they are curious, why not just show them the shounen/shoujo ones? How about you running away when they show you the porn mags they read? 😉

I think the "don't have one" shouldn't be an option...
Well, I usually wouldn't date someone who's so close minded to hate it...
My current gf doesn't mind I read either yaoi or yuri. She doesn't read manga though.

Eh? Why didn't I ever think of that...

If guys even bother to vote and they're yuri readers they don't have to worry about much, since yuri seems more acceptable than yaoi, and since every porn mag out there has some girl/girl action anyway. 🤨

~I actually didn't have "don't have one" as a final option I changed it to other, but then I clicked back and post, and couldn't change it. 😐

That's double standard. They don't have to read or like yaoi and but if they expect yuri and the porn mags to be accepted, they shouldn't use double standard. Actually most yaoi titles are not explicit at all and have a plot. Why are they so scared? It's not like you are forcing them to read it. Yaoi is nothing and doesn't show anything compared with yuri/hentai/porn.

I mentioned hentai because obviously hentai is drawn for a male audience. The focus is the female body and the fetishes are performed on female bodies. There should be "josei hentai" - it doesn't have to be yaoi, but the focus should be the male body and the fetishes should be performed on the male body, with drawing styles more apealing to a female audience. 😉 It's a bit weird that in smut, though not explicit, the exposed and focus are often still the female body, with the exception of Gakuen Ouji, I think (I don't like that one if you want to ask)?

I know, really. I was editing some SUGI Emiko smut, and all the nakedness you see is pretty much just the protagonist's breasts and legs. Once in a while you see the male's butt or chest or something, but that's far less common.

As for the poll, I mostly date people who are pretty open-minded, at least GLBT-wise. I don't do it on purpose, but as a result they aren't weirded out by me reading gay comics. :xd

well, I'm not in a relationship right now
but i know that if i was in a relationship, my boyfried would freak if they found out i read yaoi.
afterall, that's what you'll expect of them.
in fact, if my crush found out that i read yaoi then I would cut him off completely and forget him if needs be. i don't think things will ever work out that way.

i wound't like my boyfriend reading hintai or yuri, right?
it's sort of like cheating.

so i guess the conclusion is that i stay single
hide the fact that i read yaoi and hope for the impending doom
or quit altogether...T.T

I love reading yaoi, and my husband does not read them. He doesn't care if I read them, and wouldn't try to stop me.

One time I was reading a yaoi on my laptop, and my husband sat next to me to talk to me. He saw the screen at a explicit scene. He jumped and freaked out a bit. Now I think he just assumes anything I'm doing on my laptop is reading a yaoi, and won't sit next to me if it's open. 🤣
