Mostly whatever happens to catch my attention, like I might have heard this classic rock song at a random time then branch into their music, and stuff like that. I don't go deep into one genre but rather I skim the top of many genres.

Maybe I'm a loser for saying this but I listen to what popular. 😛
Most of the time though, when I get a CD, I've only heard one song and like that one song.
So, the other songs on thw CD would have been a waste so I listen to it all. Over and over. Until, I've develop a liking to it. It's worked a couple of times. My neighbor also gave me a lot of mixed CD's and so I listen to what she gave me.

I like that stuff too.
And sometimes, I hear stuff on the radio and I just automatically love it because of the beat. 😀

Emo is actually short hand for Emotive Hardcore. It developed in the 1990s as a post hardcore punk form.

I really like alternative(not rock- just the stuff thats...different.)I like the catchy unique melodies and I like that it doesnt sound just like everything else in the same genre. Thats the point, its unique and its fun.

Because they're interesting: rhythm or the tune/melody or something else appeals to me.

Currently listening to Psapp, M83, Moloko, Telepopmusik, some game music by Kiril Provosky, Converge, ES Posthumus, Menomena, Union of Knives, Polysics but am thinking of trying something else... like I dunno, Nordic music or some Chinese classical(not the noisy type you hear but the string instruments type), Lisa Ono, etc, etc.

I rarely listen to rap though... not that I dislike it but it's not my kinda thing. And I've yet to happen across any rapper that I really like.

So, basically, my field = anything that sounds interesting to me and sounds fun/appeals to me. There're still so many types of music I've never tried before though... so I should give them a shot.

lynzajw: Say, do you have anything interesting for jazz, then? :>
