I listen to stuff I like, pure and simple.... It doesn't matter what genre, there's always good and bad.... Lets take commercial Pop for example, there's crap from Paris Hyatt and Britney Spears, but there's also good stuff out there.... George Michael for example.
As for my tastes.... they vary.... one week I may be listening to the Mars Volta, then I'll be listening to Jamiroquai the next week, John Lee Hooker the following morning and hammering some Sasha & Digweed or Satoshi Tomiie mixes the same night.
The only constant is that song Ave Maria.... which I play at least 2-4 times a week. I even enjoy the Doraemon and Sesame Street themes. 😀

I mostly like FUN! music, which covers a lot of ground. J-Pop is my favorite genre so I guess that would explain a lot. I like techno, rock, hip hop and much more. But mainly, that would explain a lot of what I listen to.

It depends on the music
Some music makes me feel confident and strong.
Others make me dance-y which I love
Some inspire me to break out in song
but all in all, cause it sounds good (:
I listen to what I listen to because it's okay with me.
I'm usually disgusted with all the Popular and overplayed songs. But, if they're good I'm find with that. But, some songs are just not good and is overrated to be honest. And to the point where I'm pissed off, the song is repeated and repeated by someone. I hate that. But, people might hate what I listen to as well. Oh well.
Flame shield up just incase.

Seriously?...
I listen to music because it gives me pleasure...
And I listen to what I listen because I like it. -_-;;
Regardless of my mood-swings, my preferable things stay pretty much the same.
Quite and melodic... With lots of string instruments...
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

If I had a fantasy self, it'd be a tentacle monster.
Why? Well, it's pretty simple. I like to get my mind off things, and I don't like the quiet. When i'm working, if there is not much reading required (I like to read when it's quiet. Only time I like quiet 🤣 ) like maths for example, music has to be in the background. Also when i'm doing my art, music in the background. It helps my mind not to wonder to those stupid problems my life faces, because when I do my art, my mind is always elsewhere. Dont ask me how, it just happens 🤣
I rarely listen to music and do nothing else.

Aside from my opinion of it being good, I listen to it because it helps facilitate my moods. Whatever mood I'm in, I have something that will either prolong it or change it to a better one.

Because it's awesome music, and sometimes there are songs that just make you dream away~
also, some get me energized for the day.

Quiet a few reasons I've got...
1> Cause I love music... any form... any language
2> Mostly for the instrumentation...
3> Listen to the songs take me away to a completely different place. 🙂
4> I start imagining I'm in some live show performing the song I'm listening to
5> Control my mood swings.
6> Avoid unnecessary withdrawals.
I like any music with great lyrics.
I like any music with a good beat.
I listen to all types of music and would try anything people suggest to me. Music has the power to speak and make people feel different types of emotions and i love it. 😛
