lol poor you, blakraven >.<
I agree with jinx_you and cheesestix, everyone should experience living in a dorm in their first year of college

Living in dorms is hell on earth...a filthy roommate and loud bossy dormmates...
dinner was the worst time of the day...it was war! if you don't fight you don't eat...and the food wasn't exactly 5 star cuisine... >.>
and there was the landlady...stupid b***h

Was your dorms for grade school, or post-secondary? Or are you talking about living off-campus, but away from home? It doesn't sound like dorm life at the college/universities I've heard about...

i love the dorms, but i really think it comes down to who you live with. my suite last year was great, lively, and pretty reasonable studious. mine this year is really unsocial, everybody just mainly sticks to their own rooms. i miss the old days

i went to high school in a different region...only lasted one year because of how i hated dorm life...in truth i would've wanted to leave that hell hole only after a month of staying in it...good that i even tried to last one year just to finish and get it over with...
there are dorms for grade-school?
Didn't know there were dorms for grade school..

Boarding schools, including elementary education, would have dorms.

Hmm, so this is dorms, ey? Out of what I've heard and read it would be pretty interesting to live in dorms, but the fact is that I have never even seen one.
The closest I will ever get to living in dorms is the barracks in the military...
I don't think that is as fun

I dunno...yet. Going to college in a week, so I'll know them. Something tells me that I'll like it - a good chance to be away from home and look after myself.

Personally, I love living in the dorms, but I've been pretty lucky on the roommate front and I do go to a college that is known for having some of the best dorms in the state. You'd think AC would be a standard in VA, but apparently not in dorms...
Anyway, my freshman year, I was in a triple; one of my roommates I didn't get along with so well, but she was always out partying, so it wasn't that big of a deal and my other roommate is amazing. Freshman dorms at my college have "suites" which means that two rooms are connected by a bathroom; sinks and mirrors are in the bedrooms. So, no public restrooms. When I visited my friend at another college, I was super embarassed when a girl walked in to take a shower while I was waiting for my friend outside.
This year, becuase my amazing roommate is an international student, we had first dibs on the upperclassmen suites with kitchens. And the three other girls in our suite are really nice, too. I'm really happy I'm able to cook my own food.
EDIT: Even the slob roommate was somewhat reasonable. She agreed to take any fines regarding the stains on the sink from the hair dye she left sitting there for two days (although I was the one that ended up cleaning that up in the end; I paniced when I got back from a weekend home and thought it was mold)

I've never lived in a dorm.
I do live with a room mate (house mate?) and he's pretty clean and tidy, like me... so I guess I'm lucky in that area. Plus, we are rarely home at the same time.

The dorm itself, no. Living with a bunch of people, pretty cool.
It'd would've been alright if the RD didn't charge EVERYONE in the dorm if something broke/got stolen. And visitation was a pain in the ass as well.

I've never lived in a dorm D: I've always wanted to though...mainly due to mangas that take place in one ^______^;; but I've always wanted to live in one during my high school years specifically but then again they are a lot of downsides to it as well ^______^;;
