Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer

Quote from Rainy Days

Chinese:
A World Without Thieves
The Eye

Japanese:
The Grudge
Suicide Club

And the rest I can't remember. D:

i totally forgot about suicide club, though i thought the actual title was "suicide circle", pretty weird movie, just with these people killing themselves for no apparent reason, its either the director is trying something new or something really random, but beside that its more of gory and nasty than freaky, im more into freaky like "shutter" , "ring" , or the "grudge"

thai movies im kinda into today... im pretty sure everyone heard of the movie "ong bak" or "tom yum goong", its with this new stunt actor named "tony jaa", he's pretty cool using "muay thai".... only thing about him is that they have shitty directors directing his movies and shitty storylines, maybe better plot can help make his movies better, but pretty cool he does all his own moves without wires, CG, editting, stunt doubling, and effects.

By far my favorite foreign film (in Europe) is "Mujeres al Borde de un Ataque de Nervios". You just have to love Pedro Almodóvar 😃 .

German:
Das Experiment
Das Leben der Anderen

Spanish:
Babel <-- Can't believe no one mentioned this. D:

Letters of Iwo Jima is also pretty good. Though it's an American movie, it's all dubbed in Japanese.

French:

Amelie: A must see. I love this movie so much. You'll like it a lot if you're a girl since there is a romantic aspect in there though it doesn't overpower the movie so I guess guys could enjoy it too.

The City of Lost Children: In the beginning your reaction is probably going to be "What the hell..." cause it's so weird, freaky, surreal and out there but it's sooo good. I love it, especially the little kid...too cute! And the girl who plays Miette..brillant! It's about a man who can't sleep so he kidnaps children and steals their dreams.

Korean:

Welcome to Dongmakgol: The ending will make you cry but it's so good. Love the crazy girl with the flower in her hair. Highly recommended. Basically soldiers from North and South Korea and an american pilot find themselves stranded in this recluse mountain village which seems to be separated from the rest of the world. They find out that the village will soon be bombed and you can watch the movie to find out.

Marathon: The story of an autistic man who runs in a marathon in order buy his old mom some fake teeth (I think) because they live in a rural village and can barely afford anything.

Classic: Parallel love story of a mother and daughter.

French
Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain(had to google that!)
Tanguy
L'ennui

Chinese(?)
Happy times(Xingfu shiguang)

Wow, 3 people (including myself) have mentioned Amelie which means you should definitely watch it.

Thank you for bringing up Happy Times. I love that movie to death. It made me cry so much. People should definitely go rent it or something.

Happy Times is basically about a guy who has no job (either that or he has a crappy low paying job) and in order to woe this women he likes, he has to take care of her blind step daughter (or neice or something). At first he's bothered but then he starts to create this plan to make it seem like she's working for her money (I think she was saving up for something?) when it's really just him and his friends giving her money. So sad, so worth it.

Chinese – Wu Ji – Probably a film with the best cinematography I have ever seen. I don't care how many people put it down, I still can appreciate Ye Liu's talent.

Japanese – Box – Completely creepy in an disturbingly natural way.

Thai – Last Life in the Universe – Three different languages in one film? Brilliant. Plus, Miike is in it.

Korean – The King and the Clown – Again, really good cinematography. Acting was so so, but the plot was good enough to make up for that. I haven't seen it yet, but I think Beonjijeompeureul hada might be better though.

German – Der Der Krieger und die Kaiserin or Anatomie – Well... Benno Furmann is a good enough reason.

Singapore – 15 – No other scene on the planet is nearly as emotional as when Armani is crying on that bus.
