what would you do if MU got shut down

As long as MU does not host or link to any manga downloads, it has no reason to be targeted by the manga industry. At its core MU is nothing but a database of manga series and scanlation groups.
I realize that the functionality to link to downloads is here and has been used before. If things start getting hairy, all lambchopsil has to do is remove that. He should actually do that now, before the lawyers even notice this site. It wouldn't change a thing.
But for the sake of discussion, if MU were to be shut down, I would just have to manually keep track of releases. It would be a pain in the ass.

no
pls don't
MU is the best manga database out there...
maybe if they can't help but to remove the links to download, maybe just remove them and stay as database site

.< I probably wouldn't completely stop reading manga, but I certainly would not be buying as much if MU got shut down. Half of the manga I bought was found on this site.. And I would say the same for my friends as well. I hope that the publishers would recognise the potential of this site as a means to publicise non-mainstream manga and leave it untouched...

it would be the most critial hit to our community if this site would go down.
BUT it would at the same time be a incredible strong hit against the publishers themselves.
MU is the best site if i want to find new manga to read. i dont check amazon or go to bookstores or stuff, since i only get the information about a manga i'm interested here. and i can find similar ones.
without MU publishers would loose customers who find their series here.
AND publishers would loose perspective of what the community really wants. MU is also a pool of information for publisher of what kind of stuff is "trend" at the time. (if they use it of couse)
without MU i guess we would have to find another way of listing mangas and releases, and we will surely. so i guess after some time, things will go slightly different but all in all like allways.

I'd definitely refuse to buy anything from the english manga business if they went after this site - because it would be like funding the lawyer machine that took the site down. Naturally I'd still read scans though - so option #2 for me 😀

I really hope it won't. Without MU I wouldn't be the fangirl I am now. I'm proud of it ^^ But if I think about it on the bright side, it MIGHT not shut down. After all, MU is ONLY giving out information on manga, they're not actually hosting any downloads whatsoever so if the publishers target MU as well, I don't know how I would find manga anymore. Might as well not support the reason, the publishers, why manga is getting further away from us
“I thought also of another thing between us. Call it trust... That is one of its names. It is a very great thing. Though each of us alone is weak, having that we are strong, stronger than the powers of the dark.”

I've used MU for so long to keep tract of manga information that I believe without it I would just lose touch with manga. It is just so much easier to find out if a series is complete, who is scanlating it, if it's licensed, if the license is being treated well, and what fans of the series think about it.
I would try for a while to keep up with some favorite series and stuff, but RL can be a real bitch at times and I've gone months without reading manga because of it before so I wouldn't be shocked if it happens again and I just don't care anymore to try find my series and where I left off.
I'm active in other fandoms in which I don't have to spend any money, mainly fanfiction, so manga for me is an expensive hobby that is replaceable.

Without MU I'd be dead ;o
I'd stop completely though.
I can't really imagine life without MU 🤣
MU is the place where I get all my manga
if it goes down I would most likely stop reading manga since I have no
info or anything on what manga to read...

I hear you say "Why?" Always "Why?" You see things; and you say "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and I say "Why not?"

i don't think it will be shut down.....
but if it happen, the i'll choose 1st choice since i'm very lazy to keep track of my manga on my own and too lazy for other alternatives (don't have time for it).......

I have been thinking about doing it anyway, but probably start my own database site.
Probably wiki based.
