The publishers would be foolish to go after MU. It's one of the best, most central places to get information on what's been licensed but not yet released. Sure, plenty of people scanlate series that are licensed or even widely available, but the easier this information is to find, the more likely it is that we'll police ourselves--and that's something we can do a thousand times better than the pro industry ever could no matter how much money and time they waste.
As for what I'd do personally, same thing I always do. I'd be annoyed, but the actions of one team of lawyers don't represent the opinions of everyone who's ever had a paying job related to manga. Does anyone really think there's a serious danger of MU actually being closed down entirely?

this site is mainly the reason i started reading and buying manga. i was not into manga at all and i came accross this site around 2006 and started reading about the different series. and ended up checking out the gravitation novel from the library which is probally the first thing i ever read thats manga like and then i read ghost hunt the first vol from then on i'v been a manga fan if not for manga updates i'd never have read a vol of manga ever let along buy any if m.u closed down i'd be so disappointed i'd probally not read manga anymore. 😃

Oh no, just my imagination.
Apart from that stupidity I'd just continue to read as I always had but might consider looking for a different forum.

Nothing
MU is definitely the best manga information site. But there are also other useful site/forums that are still available

Mangaupdates is the place where I find new mangas and their releases. If Mangaupdates was to shut-down I will be very shattered and sad. It was a daily routine to go to this site to find new releases and mangas. It's like a manga library to me.
Yeah, I don't know what I'll do, but I do know that I'll be very shattered.
