Oh, I must spread my eternal passions (internal maybe as well) to this thread.

The Man from Earth is definitely the most underrated movie I know. Okay, not... underrated just lesser known, while being pretty awesome.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0756683/

Post Script: Have an open mind while watching the movie, contains slightly religious content.

V for Vendetta: Among my friends, it was a great movie. However, outside of my friends, people were bashing the movie. Another one that made me say, "Are you serious?" That was a great movie, and not because I think it bashes the Bush administration (which it doesn't since the story was made long before Bush was president), but because the story was so compelling. I think the younger generation was expecting a mindless action film. That may be why those people didn't like it.

Have you read this interview with Alan Moore, the author of V for Vendetta? I watched the film then read the comics and loved both, and it's obvious that there is a difference between the two versions. And for a taste of the differences, check this out: http://www.jazjaz.net/2007/11/v-for-vendetta-televised-speech-original-comic-strip-scans.html.

Four Brothers.....it just doesn't get the respect it deserves

also Scarface.....because it's generally overshadowed by the so called "best gangsta movie of all time" The Godfather

That movie was dumb.

No movie with David Bowie is dumb. No matter what.

Really? I always though Scarface was 20 times more popular than the godfather.

At least, I see a lot more scarface t shirts than godfather t shirts.

Now that you mention it, I do remember hearing something about that. Either way, while I was watching the movie, not once did I think about Bush. To me, it was just a movie about corrupt politicians in general. However, I do see how people make the connection, and I do see why Moore would have a problem with the screenplay (it was completely different from what he intended). I do agree that if they wanted to bash the Bush administration, they should have made an original movie themselves, instead of taking someone's story and distorting it to fit their taste. Either way, I thought it was a fantastic movie that got bashed by some of the younger generation because it wasn't what they expected (a movie with philosophical meaning, instead of a mindless action film).
