If you think the PS3 has superior hardware, you've never programmed for it. And if you have programmed for it.... preprocessor expression is invalid. Enjoy your nightmares.

I can agree that the ps3 must be a pain to program, but it is sure worth the effort when one can utilize the cell processor for more demanding commands. Also, anxiety and bitter remorse better describe the feeling than nightmares for programmers.

Anyway... I haven't found any reason to grab a 360 since most of the good games are for both consoles (except for Disgaea3, MGS). Frankly, to see any difference in video quality, one must have a very good HDTV and be a video quality junkie. Heck, most people today get the PS3 just because it is the cheapest bluray player available.

I got a PS3. For MGS4. But there are other reasons:

Better controls for Armored Core 4 (I've played every single one, and like PS controls, even if the controls for 4 are crippled for each version).
Naruto Utlimate Ninja Storm.
New Team Ico Game.
100$ gift card from Walmart.com(even after they charge shipping+tax unlike Amazon, I still got some back...)
Final Fantasy 13
Eye of judgement(novel, but now I can get other eye games cheap)
Blu-Ray
Final Fantasy 7 remake (I can dream)

Reasons for getting a new console(non-exclusive, but not wii):
Resident Evil 5
Soul Caliber 4
The force Unleashed

Games that i'll miss (360 only):
Ace Combat 6
Red Alert 3 (but this was halted, and not cancelled)

Overall only missing out on Ace Combat 6. I don't play sports, fps, and driving games. Not really into many other J-RPGs. And I have a few PS2 games I still need to play through in that category...

I agree with all this, especially the ff7 remake
🤣
But also Resistance 2, LittleBig Planet, BIoshock is coming in Sept or Oct (it was the only reason I wanted a 360).

Eh. Despite owning a developers kit, I don't even play consoles. I'd rather play the PC versions, and wait for an emulator if it's console specific.

Bioshock - Better on PC

Assassins creed - Better on PC

Halo 2-3 (it's coming ;P) - Better on PC

etc. Infact, I'd love it if everyone making/using consoles would just stop, and I could work with only x86.

Consoles are always much, MUCH harder to develop for. The PS3 has major problems with syncing. By major, I mean bigger than UDP's "fox the quick jumped brown lazy over the dog".

Sorry mate.... never.... ever gonna happen....which is a good thing, IMHO.... unless all future consoles start using x86 as well.... which I highly doubt.

Not entirely correct....(i honestly think Halo was much better on Xbox....only that after the starting craze i thought it was actually a Mediocre FPS especially compared to most of the PC ones out at that time...it was just the best XBOX had to offer...and thus why I rate the PS3 over XBOX...simply because there's nothing 'really' on the xbox I wanna play that isn't already out on PS3 or PC... WII however..well since everyone's got one...i dont' relaly need one for myself...lol (it's a party console afterall) and i can easily just play one when i really want to.) Overall PC still wins....lol well apart from the price, and being slightly ever so less user friendly. lol

Lots more i can say about it but....i really don't care... =P or do i? Oh well i'm not making any sense now...

Well, Microsoft's XNA is a great step in the right direction. It just isn't as good as the alternatives right now. With managed XNA, you can run it on both PC and Xbox 360. Well, they're planning for that anyway 😛

I have no programming experiance and no idea what the hell x86 is....

...google.....wikipedia......
oh. ok. usual instuction set for modern CPUs.......

but I agree. Its always better on PC.
Plus, your consoles cant be upgraded or moded (easily) untill the next version hits the shelves, so theres a limit to the graphics and game size. And firmware/hardware incompatibilities are there to stay, as opposed to being able to go "oh shit skipping, lets get another graphics card..... there, all better"
And mice are so much easier to use than those damn dual analog sticks....

The difference graphically is negligible, the 360 outperforms the PS3 in some aspects such as smoother lines and vice versa but you really wont notice it when you are playing, disk space isn't a problem right now either.
x3

Wow, you've obviously have never played with the HDMI hook up for the PS3. Then again, I haven't seen 360 with the HDMI hook either, but thats mainly because no one wants to get another 360 just for that.

That's pretty much why I got a PS3. all the good games/games that I want that have come out for 360 are available for my PC. Not so with the PS3. And because of the Blue Ray player. I mean, it costs like $600-700 for a blue ray player. Or I could get a ps3 for $400-500. And don't even talk about 360's capacity with HD-DVD's. They lost the next gen battle, and the only reason to get a HD-DVD hook up is just to catch up to the memory capicity of PS3's games.

So the gaming selection for 360 is better, bt half the games are available for the PC. Besides, if you want to compare the QUALITLY not the Quantity of the gaming library, then the Wii would win that award. PS3 has more exclusive games as well as Blue Ray. And in about a year when games try to push the envelope, the hardware for the 360 just won't cut it.

So in terms of gameplay, user friendly xmb, and stable internet Xbox wins for now. But in anything else, PS3 wins.

(besides, it not like those things can't be fixed)

Polite bump.

Sony fanboy here, so I choose the PS3. 😮 I wouldn't mind owning an xbox360 though, but I'm more of a jrpg player, so the PS3 suits my tastes just fine. I feel like the xbox360 has already outlived its time though, while the PS3 (software and technology) is still fresh and new? Or is that just me... : x

I have both. I overall enjoyed 360 far more. PS3 is still great, and now has notable exclusives. But multiplatforms are still inferior (mostly due to the controller I dont like and lack of supported resolution).

I find the PS3 to be allot bigger, heavyer, louder, hotter and uglyer. The online, though free, isint as extensive as the 360.

I love both consoles, but if anything I would say that it all depends on the type of gamer you are. I guess PS3 is more "casual" in the sense the online is free, plays blu-ray and games look good even without a HD tv.

They can all suck it, as far as I care.

The wii is a stupid minigame. I don't care what anybody says that controller is retarded for almost everything except rail shooters (of which there are very few on any console).

the 360 is full of macho twat games and is a poser PC. Best traits are XBLA, which sucks 80% of the time anyway, and nothing else. Live can go choke for all I care. Paying for shitty multiplayer with a detestable userbase is not my idea of money well spent.

The PS3 used to earn my ire because of it's unreasonable price-point and lack of games, but by now it's fixed 70% of each of those problems so I've moved on to calling it out on it's lack of backwards compatibility.

PS3. It only does everything. (but play ps2 games lol)

In a magical theoretical world where everybody else wasn't suffering perpetual brain trauma, and the PS3 was backwards compatible, I would buy one. So I guess that wins, because I would prefer a world without the other two systems in it.

unless you were one of the lucky ones to get a 20, 60, or 80 gig in the 1st or 2nd production line.

I have a 60 gig from the first and love it.
