haha, yeah right. From what I hear initial compatibility was sketchy at best, and each successive hardware change made it worse.

Even if the initial compatibility was flawless it still wouldn't earn them any points from me because they took it out. The difference in size between the slim and fatty models is enough to fit a PS2 inside of. There was no good reason for them to remove it. Sony made a dick move and they've lost my business because of it.

From what I've seen the firmware updates resolved some of the problems, there are some that still are pretty bad but after version 1.5 the quality jumped by a nice amount. But if a little bit of enlarged pixels ruin your experience jump back to your ps2, problem solved.
That was basically what they were thinking when they removed backwards capability, I'm sure.

Opinions are opinions after all.

I can't speak for what constitutes "bad" for the rest of the gaming community. "enlarged" pixels probably does, but not personally. I've dealt with much worse.

All I know is that I have never once heard a good thing about the compatibility from anybody but you, and it really doesn't matter because, good or bad, it's not even there anymore.

Polite bump.

Sony fanboy here, so I choose the PS3. 😮 I wouldn't mind owning an xbox360 though, but I'm more of a jrpg player, so the PS3 suits my tastes just fine. I feel like the xbox360 has already outlived its time though, while the PS3 (software and technology) is still fresh and new? Or is that just me... : x

I fear its just you, really :3

this Year Assassin's Creed 2, next Mass Effect 2,** FFXIII **etc: if it means decline, I dont know what doesnt XD

The tech just seems new and fresh because it just recently hit a price point mere mortals could afford.

PS3 for me.
I've had Sony consoles since 1997 and they've all been awesome.
I've never been even remotely interested in giving money to Microsoft, I don't even use Windows.
This thread is going to be a three-way fanboy/girl fight. The only moderate voices are going to be those who own both (or all three, with the Wii). Anyone who has only one is obviously going to fight their corner.
And anyone saying there are no good games on PS3, all I can say is, sorry, you're wrong. (And whoever said there are no more games coming for PS3, you're wronger. (I think you may have confused it with PS2?) )
Killzone 2, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Little Big Planet etc etc.
FFXIII on 1 BD (PS3) or 3 DVDs (XB360), which would you chose?
GT5 is coming soon, too.

Thank you for this astute observation. We're you hoping for anything else?

It might be interesting to note that only two of these titles aren't sequels or entries in an already long running series, and one of them is so generic and derivative that it might as well be the offspring of every 3rd person shooty adventure game for the last 2 console generations. cough

PS3. I just got a 360 a few days ago. I was disappointed that I couldnt play my Xbox games. PS3 lets me play both so imo it's better. Same reason DSi sucks in comparison to the DS lite

The PS3 is overall better in most aspects over the 360. However, lets face it, you can play free games on the 360 easily and that trumps most anything the PS3 offers.

lol that is hardly a reason to rag on the DSi. 99% of GBA games are emulated perfectly so if you really want to play the 10 games that are worth it, then just do it on your PC while you wait for anime to finish downloading or whatever.

A real reason to rag on it would be the complete lack of ergonomics, it's overly-small build, the iffy start/select buttons, or the way you get neck sores no matter how you hold it or position yourself.

If you have a xbox hard drive you can download an emulation software from the xbox site that allows you to play a large number of old xbox games.

I own 'em both. There are just some games that I refuse to play on the PS3 and vice versa. Halo and Bioshock are for me purely Xbox games. While Final Fantasy games belong on the Playstation methinks.

Sure they both have their faults (Xbox 360 heats up like an indian summer and Playstation 3 has...can't think of anything atm..) but I still love 'em to death :3
