Because it is a reflection of girls in real life. No seriously it is not the real attraction for shojo manga, the breast is more of a visual attraction in w/c case male gender are inclined to.

I've seen plenty of shoujo and josei series with girls who have big breasts, but they are mostly by authors I don't like whose stories aren't worth reading. Most of 'em would be right at home in a men's H magazine, so that should tell you something. But 'tis true, they are in the minority.

My 5 cents: the reason that you don't see a whole lot of shoujo manga about heroines with big titties is not because Japanese girls are flat chested, but because girls by and large just don't enjoy staring at other girls' boobies. You see lots of chicks in shounen manga with tits so big they would cause severe back pain because guys like to look boobs. Girls reading girly manga have other interests in mind, for instance, the well-muscled bod of a stately hunk. Big boobies are a boy-culture thing, not a girl culture thing. Hence, no big boobies in manga produced by girl culture for girl readers. (I'm sure someone has already pointed this out. At least I hope so.)

Er, are most guys not aware that heterosexual girls are not sexually attracted to big tits? Just...curious.

Well, for some reason I feel like comparing this to the fact that everyone in manga has a clear complexion, unless it's being emphasized (a pimple or what not.) There's no real reason for them to have big boobs (or any really), especially when the girls in shoujo are so young, and when shoujo targets young females.

I've never really paid attention to the size of their boobs. The only time I do is when I read hentai (how could I not?). I find nothing wrong with really small breasts or bigger ones, but there are times where it is just unrealistic to the point of asdfghjkl. I'm talking like GG (maybe H), find me someone that has that size, naturally, and is not considered a phenomenon.

That's really all I have to say, a lot of you sound so stereotypical that it isn't even funny. Though I guess shoujo manga is stereotypical in it's own right backs away 🤣

Tons of Seinen and Josei manga have girls with small tits, but they're still there. The majority of Shojo manga that I've read is the opposite. Most girls, even 17-20 year olds (in the manga) are completely flat.

From a realism standpoint, I was wondering why that was so. Nothing to do with sexuality.

They have breasts. There just isn't much cleavage. Maybe you haven't done enough research (or been with enough girls), but girls with B-cups (which naturally don't have much cleavage) or C-cups will seem "flatter" once they put on clothes that aren't unrealistically tight or revealing. Schoolgirl uniforms (which appear often in shoujo) are not supposed to be form-fitting and are somewhat heavy in terms of material, so you definitely won't see any cleavage unless the girl intentionally reveals it

I'm heterosexual and I do look at girl's large chests. Not for sexual reason, but a wishful thinking of wanting to have these. 🤣 <--- B cup

they do have tits...but its just not as big as those in the shounen mangas...maybe because it will make no sense and the girls who will read the series will just feel inferior or will not be able to relate to the character who is having the problem of having this huge rack and all the boys are drooling over her...lets accept it not everyone is gifted with C and up cups...so i think that its not that necessary for shoujo to have characters that have huge tits...but i think that girls in shounen mangas have bigger tits is because its a turn on and guys like reading manga with huge breasted female characters, i guess... 🤣

I'm pretty sure it's because...well, it's just like shounen. An ugly main character gets the hot love interest. I think that it's cute, but after a while, it gets really boring and cliche. Also, I agree with:

Kind of seconding this. A lot of the better shoujo I've seen lately has realistic breasts (the proportions look sane, small visible bump), whereas the bad shoujo tends to do really funky things to proportion.

Yeah i agree with that. I saw some types of shoujo/josei w/c are quite realistic drawn such as WATASE Yuu. And though somewhat unproportional drawn TANEMURA Arina, though I could be wrong
