oh, a warning though... although there may be no cockroaches around central coast bay area california, the seagulls are about as big as chihuahuas. maybe bigger.
i swear they'd steal your kids if you gave them the chance.

She's trying to avoid just two things:
a) Cockroaches
b) Cold Winters

That's known as a "coin".

Heh. MD might be a good choice. Where I live at least (20 minutes from DC), there's never any cockroaches. I haven't seen one firsthand in my life. The winters aren't too cold. Until you get in the middle of winter it hovers around 35 degrees in the mornings. MD schools seem to be pretty good as well.

we don't get cold at all down here in orlando (high today of about 80), but avoid this place at all costs if you don't like roaches. i'm in a pretty nice neighborhood down here, but the damn things are still all over the place. north carolina's nice, esp around winston-salem, but it does get cold in the winter. va's the same. cal is prob your best bet. just expensive to live in most cities there.

Haha yeah I know I'm being really picky. 😀
If I can't find some place that's "ideal" then I'll just stay where I am, in spite of the cold, because other than that it's a pretty great place to live.
Bay Area's nice, but the cost of living is really high (my step-brother lives there).
Bugs/whatever outdoors don't really bother me, I just don't want to have to deal with regular household infestations. (_)
UK or Europe would be fun, but really far from family and I think I'd have trouble getting the right work permits etc. to actually live there.
I used to really want to move to Canada, but now that Obama's been elected, I don't mind living in the US so much anymore. 🤣

I live in Victoria, Australia and I've never seen a roach here before. I think it's pretty safe for me to say that they don't really exist here...well, unless they were brought in that is (in bags of onions, fruits etc.)
...Though Australia is a crap country 🤣
So do you like your home country (Australia) or not, Scyfon? 😕
I'm so glad I don't live anywhere near Dubby, at least I don't think so... 😳 🤣
But isn't TofuQueen married or at least with kids? She'd have to drag them to a new place.

Not married, but yeah, I'd have to drag my kids to a new place - which is why I have to make SURE it'd be significantly better than where I am now. 😃

Australia's not exactly my home country...and I'm already sorta a fugitive of my actual home country...>_>

Aaaand here we have visual evidence of why I want to move south. (_)

Notice that big pile to the right of the car...the one that's taller than the car? That all came off the roof today. It took four of us about two hours to clear the roof; my step-dad estimates that we moved about a ton (yep, 2000 lbs) of snow. The piles behind the house are even higher, but my camera didn't like the cold & I didn't want to go inside, warm up, and then go out again. 🤢
Supposed to stay cold today, then Sunday we have a "90% chance of heavy snow" followed by slightly warmer temps and mixed rain & snow. Yay. (T_T)

You can try Az, houses are really cheap right now too, and no roaches (at least I've never seen one)...

Another day, another foot of snow. Yes, we seriously did get a foot of snow since yesterday. (T_T) You can have it. ALL of it. (Just return it when it melts, we'll need the water this summer. 🤣 )
Most (all?) of Arizona gets deathly hot in the summer; my grandparents used to live there & my mom has friends there. (Yes, I know, I'm still being picky....)
If we have another winter like this, even the cockroaches may become negotiable, though.

O_o Really....the most common kind of roach in the US is the "German Cockroach" so...I'd definitely need to do some research on that. 🤣
Weather's great now; we'll see how I feel about it next December. 😉
