I was thinking recently how much better DB(anime) would
have been if it was more loyal to the manga. Seriously, i dont
know if you have read it yet or not, but just imagine all the boring
parts excluded (like the garlic Jr. part that was really crappy) and
the fights not dragging so long that make you crazy.
All i know is that if the anime was made into 50-100 episodes
instead of 400+ it would be my favourite for sure even now ...

i only read the manga, but i'm soooo interested in the anime after hearing that it covers much more details concerning veggie & bloomer's relationship...they'll forever be my favorite pair...trunks is a darling, and i've always had a crush on piccolo xD...my favorite villain would probably the buu in his "sugar-crazed" state ^^...

from what i've seen from the synopsis on wiki, the manga is on an entirely different universe 😔 what's with everybody starting to turn to supersaiya level 4, 5, 6, and beyond...the manga had an appropriate ending, conclusive and light-hearted...i would assume that they'd stretched the anime to several hundreds of episodes and several different series & multiple movies to leech off the franchise 😢 ...the manga was truly a classic epic...
no bardock, cooler, broly, or baby...villains included buu, cell, freeza, and the other ones who turned good after being confounded by the incomprehensible naivety of goku and his companies 🤣

Bardock was in the manga. He got 2 panels. Akira Toriyama really liked him and even said he was goku's dad and he was the only saiyan who resisted in the end.
I really should get an avatar
This is a dead topic but...
Anyone else prefer the first half? Before we knew anything about the aliens - before Z? It was more (?) childish but also innocent...
I have a bias - it was my first manga.
Can you imagine an imaginary menagerie manager imagining managing an imaginary menagerie?

You're trying to bring back dead topics too, huh? 🤣
For me, Dragon Ball was better. It relied heavily on both adventure and action, while DBZ was focused more on action than adventure. That, and the way Toriyama retconned a ton of things quickly made all the symbolism that was in Dragon Ball meaningless.
Around the end of Dragon Ball till the end of DBZ shows the retcons the most. Like Goku's origin and how it was supposed to be a tribute to Superman's origin (Though it did make a bit more sense about why Goku had a tail, as opposed to Dragon Ball's explanation and that it's a tribute to Journey to the West). And then Ki replaced martial arts all of a sudden as one of the most important things in the story. Prime examples are how everybody started using their Ki a lot more than they did in Dragon Ball and could all of a sudden fly and sense someone's presence because of "Ki Manipulation" and how everyone started to just punch, kick, and use ki attacks, and barely used martial arts anymore. Hell, Goku stopped using his staff and Kinto-Un and replaced them with Ki by using the Kamehameha a lot more for long attacks and by flying. And I know that ki was in Dragon Ball as well, but it wasn't as important as how it was in DBZ. And don't forget about how everyone was all of a sudden given power levels.
I'm not saying DBZ is bad or anything, because the story was still very entertaining and one of my favorite moments happened in DBZ (Goku turning Super Saiyan), but I personally thought that Dragon Ball was better.

Just because someone's head was chopped off doesn't mean they're dead. That's just silly.

Actually the whole concept of DB/Z/ consist of...
powerful evil guy appears - goku gets beaten up by evil guy -
goku undergoes special training - evil guy is defeated by goku
This consept repeats itself over and over again...But I still like DB^^

Although that is true, that's only one of the concepts that Toriyama uses in the manga.

The best fight in DB is surely Goku vs Vegeta. He is my favorite character.

There is one thing that's been bugging me for years now since i realized it. In the Freeza arc when the little namekian kid (cant remember his name) wished on the dragon for everyone Freeza killed to be brought back... did he specify only those killed on Namek? If not then they left a WHOLE lot of potentially epic arcs slip by their fingers. One I'd love to see was a planet Vegeta and saiyan kind is back, specifically Bardock and Vegetas father (dont know his name either) meet their super saiyan sons and grandsons. That would have been awesome to see.
Although they being dead for so long might defuse this, since their souls could have been long since reincarnated or whatever it is that happens to them in the DBZ universe. Which brings up the why arent there any saiyans on the other side when Goku goes there. There has to be atleast one saiyan to be a good person besides Goku.
Food for thought.

I know what you're talking about and I've considered it before, but he made the wish on the earth born Shenron, it's hihghly out of his power to revive those who were killed by Freeza so long ago. He is only able to do it for the more recent deaths. Even then it was still a stretch for him to preform. Parunga is not able to do something so extreme either. So nothing really slipped by since we already know the limits Shenron was put up against in the first place.
As for good Sayains.... I highly doubt it, I mean there's probably a lot of them that were probably very close to each other in a family sense, but bottom line with them was war. They pretty much craved it, and befriended no one they didn't see as one of their own, and they worshiped power above everything else, they trampled over a lot of the weak. Goku and his sons were pretty much a rare find in terms of Sayains.

when they die...in db they go before Kenshi...YAN WANG/King Enma lol
and get sentanced right away...goku had special friends with lots of influence so he got spared
i dont think goku should meet any of them
i mean...they all [the ones killed by freeza] pretty much suck compared to him when he first died and went to the afterlife so they would not be able to help him train
and i dont think goku feels any kind of strong relationship toward other seiyajins
atleast not strong enough to go find any in the afterlife
Best Fight...

What happened to kaioh-ken (one where power is multiplied)? It seemed to disappear when super saiyan appeared. 😕
