i tend to only read manga if i think the characters are some what attractive, i actually quit reading something awhile back 'cause the main character was ugly, it's sad but i'm shallow

As for who is most ugly? It's hard to judge the guys because I don't usually view them that way but...

Ippo from hajime no ippo is pretty ugly, I can also see why people said Luffy from OP (but come on he's got such a loveable personality!). Many female leads (from shoujo) and male leads (from harems) are 'Average looking', they're always the 'ordinary plain' person who somehow gets the attention of opposite-sex beauties.

Protagonist only is limiting me here, someone said Gantz though? I think kurono is cute, in a girly kinda way (even though he's a guy).

Oh yeah the Akira on Gacha Gacha - Secret was pretty ugly too like someone already said - But if find female Akira really cute (I find the girl male Akira likes ...ugly...) Half the characters from GG-S look like monkeys.

I've read claymore till the last chapter AND everybody look pretty much alike (the girls, the guys, even those clothed organization! zomg). No special feature or whatever. I'm comparing it to other manga like berserk, gantz or vagabond in which each character is unique 😀
