New Poll - Physical Manga

I have just over 500 volumes of manga and 29 illustration books. I'm going to assume I qualify as a collector 😛
I don't buy as much as I used to. I used to spend over $1500USD a year on manga, I spend probably about half that now.

I'm not collecting them much lately, but I have a few hundred maybe a little more than a thousand. Mostly french ones,a few in english and japanese. I tend to have more in digital (even those I have on paper). The problem with physical, after 2-3 reads, they can have some loose pages (My big edition of Maison Ikkoku is in bad shape...). Plus since I had move a lot so most of them are in cardboards... A pain in the ass to find my full collection of ranma 1/2, urusei yatsura, dragon ball or other long series...

I bought a lot when I was younger, but I've since sold most of it to make room in my bookcase. I still have quite a bit, though. I have the entirety of Mink and NG Life, which I got before Tokyopop went under and they went out of print. I also have all of The Gentlemen's Alliance Cross back from when I was on a Tanemura Arina kick. Aside from that, I have some unfinished series that I lost interest in or some odd volumes of series I enjoy. I mostly read online and from the library these days because a lot of manga either isn't worth the cost or isn't available in my region. 😔
I do/intend to support artists and authors I enjoy, though. Once I get a steady job, I'm going to buy the entirety of Pandora Hearts, and if Karneval ever becomes available in my region, I'm going to buy that, too. 😃

I picked the second highest option. Last time I counted I had a bit above 300 volumes, mixed English and Swedish, so prolly a bit more now. It has slowed down considerably though, so no, I'm not quite collector material, I don't think.

I wouldn't say a lot nor would I have "a few" (there's too much of a large difference in quantity between those two options).
Recently I've been collecting completed sets of mangas. I'd say about 80-90% are out of print now and they're only mangas that I deem completely worthy of buying as to not waste money and have to go through the trouble of selling them eventually. (Though I will have to set up an account someday since I have textbooks to get rid of as well....) I've been eyeing a few more sets on ebay which I hesitate to buy though because for the most part, their english published version is scanned. Hmm....
When I look at why people choose various options, I find it quite interesting especially when they have amounts up to the hundreds and here I am, barely 50 Lol maybe there should be a clarification of what is considered "few" and "a lot" xD Based on what people have been posting though, I think I should have voted "few" then instead of "a lot"...

I have quite a few, but most of them are Japanese.
You should consider doing one which asks what exactly is collected - Japanese volumes? Japanese magazines? English/foreign language translated volumes? English language magazines?
Then you'd need the obligatory scanlator answer of "I've bought many and destroyed many..."

Just reached 350 volumes. I used to buy lots of manga a few years ago, compared to now, but I still buy at least two a month.

I posted for a few because while I have over 100 manga my novel/book collections is somewhere in the 400-500. It is probably even more because I do not bother counting the books I have in storage boxes because my shelves got full.
But you are right that there could be some numbers in the poll like over 200 for the first option and 100, 20-100 and 10-20 or so for the other options.

Ah...I'd really like that. A book/novel collection of hundreds (I don't mind so much about manga since I only buy if I really like them). It's a small dream of mine to own my own small library and create some reading room when I settle down in the future. It'll be my little anti-digital space =)

Well, I'm by no means a collector but I do have a lot. I haven't counted but maybe 75-100? Most of my collection contains 5 volume manga or so and I'm picky on ones I deem "buy worthy" so it's not as huge as it could be. And frankly, I'd say a 1/3 of them is Rave Master (collected all 35) and another portion is Alice in country of hearts/clover series. I've fallen behind on buying those, especially when there is 1-2 volumes out every month, but I've got the bulk of them with plans to get those I missed when I have the money.

I'm ashamed to admit, but I haven't got a single physical copy of manga.
I assume manga is available in Israel, but it's probably only the really popular stuff I'm not interested in.
I wouldn't mind buying some, if it weren't that expensive to ship from Amazon... And the rates have gone up... Like 16-17 dollars? Ugh... Maybe someday...
<_<;
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

Honto offers manga quite cheap, 400 Yen per volume, that's a bit less than 3 Euros, and they have fair shipping prices, charging only the actual shipping cost.
