Let's see what adds up to 1000 dollars.

-Prom Ticket 200
-Prom Suit 350
-Prom make over 120
-Prom limo 370

😲 oh wow, my prom ticket is like...$80AUS or something (well i dunno, that's how much my sisters was) and why does a suit cost that much??

I don't know....My school is cheap......and maybe because I live in NY......

the year book, the school shirt, cap and gown together costed me like 230 something.....
one of the reason I didn't go to prom....

I offialy award Takiko with the Mangaupdates literature award for longest post so far. ( no, i haven't really checked if its true )

To Scyfon and Takiko and the boys and Suit issue.
Suits are overestimated. I was just like you, and then a half a year ago ( i'm 23 now ) i wore a suit for three days straight ( and tuxudo at night ) and i realized this: suits suck. The only reason they look cool, is because you almost never wear them. So wearing one once or twice is fun, after that they are just a pain.

Advantage, if we ever need to look decent its pretty easy.
Disadvantage: if you have to look decent there is pretty much nothing to pick from. ( and suits are not comfy, not easy to wash, need ironing, ties need to be tied,--> pain in the ass. )
But seriously, if you want to wear something cool and nice that you like, there is nothing to pick from. Women have huge amounts of outfits that can be considerd decent, men have like 2. If a women wants to go extravagent she can do all sorts of thing, any color she wants, skirt, dress, pants, heels, flat, .......... All of those things can be acceptable.
If i wanted to go really really radical i could maybe wear a vest. Or a flashy tie. ( BORING )

An expensive suit no doubt. I'm only willing to spend less than AU$200. They usually depend on the brand. But i gotta admit...WHAT AND EXPENSIVE TICKET! man, that prom must've been something coz my formal is only costing me $60 :S the make over sounds reasonable. A haircut costs like...$50 minimum? or something like that...which really isn't good for my psp savings 😔 😛

Pay for prom 😕 I don't recall paying much of anything as far as entrance fees and whatnot ... if I we did, its wasn't enough to remember from 10+ years ago.
At our high school you could go to prom if you were a junior or senior. In my junior year I asked the guy I liked (who was a senior because he wanted to skip a grade) but he said 'no' as we both expected. He was anti-normal-people-stuff kind of things. Another fellow said I had some 'balls' to do that, but alas I have been reduced to a gelatonous spinless blob - ballsy-ness will never happen again. 😢
In my senior year I wanted to go to Prom, mostly because I would never ever get a chance again in my life, not because I really thought it was a great thing. I don't dance! So I asked a shy quiet nice fellow. He said he had to think about it. He did eventually say 'yes'. The event itself was rather awkward. Of course the Senior dance I stepped on his toes, arms-length apart, total cheesyness. Then we went to the after-prom party and split to our separate groups of friends. I spent a good portion of the night saving goldfish. The theme was like 'hawaiin' of something like that and on each table was a small bowl with a goldfish. I collected them all when people left the tables vacant. Except one poor fish, whom some guys thought it was fun to spear it with a toothpick and watch it sqwirm. Poor fishie.

At least with a suit you guys can wear it again to different stuff so it's multi-purpose, a prom dress is something you wear once then never see it again, bah. But if i get my sister to make mine i'll get her to make it so puffy that i'll look swamped in it 😀

haha, psp savings, heh. Thankfully i don't have to pay anything for my prom so i keep my monies instead of wasting it n a night of snobby girls and stupid jerky guys, lol.

I had my formal end of last year.
I was so bored at the formal even though my friends were there. It was a big waste of time and money.
ratio of females to male was 1.5 : 1 (went to an all girl school) and majority of the time there were constant high pitch scream of "your dress is sooooo pretty".
the formal was on a monday night. Monday night!!

I could had thrown a better formal at maccas
