I just remembered something that KakiSaku fans have been doing. They've made pictures of Sakura blindfolded while kissing him. I doubt that would happen, but that means that the audience will probably see his face.

Most probably it's because Kishimoto wanted to give Kakashi that special characteristic. I too beleive there's no mystery at all.
Infact people, just think about it.
If it weren't for the mask he'd loose part of his popularity and fans would have less discussions. It's all done on purpose. Anyway according to some rumor there'll be some consentration on Sasuke, Sakura and Kakashi this year, maybe we'll know...
