I also haven't really been scarred by any manga/anime... nothing scares me or freaks me out. And 'disturbing' things to some people don't bother me much. It's just there/what it is, yknow? 🙂

Bradherley no Basha. For those who have also read this, I'm sure you would agree.

Nah no scars, I have a project though: try to read the weirdest and sickest manga ever and see if it'll shock me! But I might get emotional with some series and they will haunt me in my dreams, but I wouldn't say they'd scarred me.

The manga that scarred me the most was a horror/mystery thing called GOTH. It's about two mentally off teenagers who become obsessed with serial killers and decide to stalk them. Some of the bodies they stumble across... The manga-ka has too good of an imagination!

Maybe if you count most of Tokyopop's English conversions. 🤢

. . . But seriously, I actually enjoy tragedies. It's getting hard to find one that is shocking or sad enough, without just becoming horror fan-service, to actually move me. The dark ritual in Berserk. . . brilliant.

Made so even more, by the well plotted Highs and Lows weaved together during the flashback arcs of his childhood, and the Band of the Hawk's rise.

Too bad it's started to go down hill the last few volumes. 🙁

Mnemosyne scared me so much in the first two episodes. The torture scenes are....disturbing. Human bodies shouldnt be allowed that many piercings. Neither should all those swords fit in one body. I'm 12 and that scarred by innocence forever

Quote from palepail

i'd say the first time someone sees guro opens their eyes to the darker side of anime.

This... 🤣

Quote from palepail

well i'd say a a manga that has a very high chance of scarring for life is Mai-chan no nichijou

This... 🤢

And a number of other violent hentai manga.

I think what sickens me is not so much the images themselves, but the thought that there are people who are turned on by them. 😐

Oh, guro in general.

And some really really sick yaoi dj(Unapai) by the mangaka of Gravitation and her circle. It took me days to get over it. 🤢 ;;

I can stand stuff like MPD Psycho, though. Just no sex with pictures of guts... 🤢 ;;

2 years later... let me say that I'm happily reading guro. 🙂

Oh, how time flies. 🤣

I have been sensible enough to avoid manga that have the potential for 'scarring me for life'. That includes hentai, yaoi, yuri, manga containing zoophilia, and shotacon / lolicon.

But might I add that except for graphic sex scenes and rape 🤢 , there is no amount of killing, non-sexual torture or dismemberment that can disturb me. I don't like it, and I never search for that kind of crap actively, but if I ever do see it, I'm like "Whatever, just another demonstration of human brutality (which we're so used to already)".

Hmm...

I would have to say Tokyo Akazukin.

Well, at these that's the worst that I am willing to list here. There are a few more that I still have nightmares about.

Also, not really the time, but it's the debut of my glorious new Sam the Eagle.

To be honest I have always liked reading gory action types of manga... but I tried to avoid reading anything that is considered hentai... but back when I was starting to like reading manga, one of my friends told me that I should read hentai genre manga so like an idiot I obeyed and the first thing I read was pretty horrific and from time to time I still think of it...

Anyways its not the gruesomeness that scars me its other topics i.e. cheating on partners, blackmail, rape, bullying (though not to much degree) etc... because I tend to relate those topics in real life I always think "People can do that to other people in real life..."

Believe it or not, Kill Me Kiss Me scarred me for life. I was an unassuming middle schooler, flipping through volumes on the manga shelf at the library, and came to the scene where one of the guys threatens to twist the other's nipples off with a pair of pliers.

I was so scared of pliers and/or nipples for years afterwards. ><
