The Sex Pistols and the Stooges.
Though, I have a several other favorites but those two come to mind first.

I don't know why, but I was never a Clash fan.

I guess I prefer Hardcore :idk:

One punk band I've enjoyed recently is Crime in Stereo, really catchy and fun melodic hardcore

If you would consider No Doubt punk, which I'd say it essentially is, then No Doubt would be my favorite, even if the main genre label is techincally ska, and I really can't stand Good Charlotte, basically a rip off of blink-182. Oh yes I also hate the Ramones 😛

:-( How dare you say the Ramones suck.

The Clash had some best moments in punk history, as well as the Jam. But their music was not that consistent.

Were Fugazi considered punk? If so, they should be one of the best too.

Against Me!
The World/Inferno Friendship Society
Test Icicles
The Clash
The Ramones
The Damned
The Queers
Reel Big Fish
Green Day
Say Anything (Not sure about this one...)
Ludo (Though some would consider them alternative, i see it as pop punk)
Cherry Poppin' Daddies
The Vandals
Anti-Flag
Sublime
Dead Kennedys
Big D and the Kids Table
Anything with Mike Park (The Chinkees, Bruce Lee Band, and his self title band)
Leftöver Crack
Voodoo Glow Skulls

That's all i can name off the top of my head. All are great bands, but i really recommend The World/Inferno Friendship Society. Totally different sound, totally refreshing, and their live shows will change your life.

Edit: Right, and I can't forget NOFX

For the record, Reel Big Fish and the Voodoo Glowskulls are ska. And Sublime is kinda ska-core but more like folk music. Oh, and Cherry Poppin' Daddies is swing-ish. 😎

Yay, I was slightly sad not to see Flogging Molly anywhere on this thread. I'm not a huge fan of punk, but them and Dropkick Murphy quite caught my ear.
