Best punk bands are the amateur ones who play on your local festival, not known outside of your town and just for the fun of it. 'Cause that's punk. Period.

That album is so technical it melted my face several times.

Wow you guys sure don't know your punk music........personally to be considered punk you have to be total DIY or at least keep the attitude. If you want true, no and I mean true punk music listen to:

Minor Threat
Bad Brains (Pretty much the best band on the planet, H.R. can wail)
Black Flag
SSDecontrol
Circle Jerks
D.O.A.(Favorite band because they're Canadian)
Rich Kids on LSD (RIGHT NOW! go to youtube and look up BETRAYED by RKL, amazing song.)
Murphy's Law
Dead Kennedys
Mike Watt and The Minutemen
to a lesser extent the Cro-Mags
Propagandhi (Cause they're Canadian too)
The misfits (Pre-Graves Era was better)

There's also alot more, if your interested I would watch American Hardcore for a taste of Punk. If your watching MTV or whatver you crazy kids watch, your not gonna find punk music, just pop music.

I would say my favorite is Bad Religion

although I am fond of
Fugazi
The Crucif*cks
Screeching Weasel
Green Day (before Dookie)
the Dead Kennedys (with Jello Biafra)
and The Clash
and the more obscure folk/punk band This Bike is a Pike Bomb

Crap forgot Screeching Weasel, they are so badass. I Wanna Be A Homosexual is one of the best songs out. Period 😃 . And The Crucif*cks sound interesting, gonna check them out.

I believe the aim of the Crucif*cks is to offend EVERYONE, even their own fans. They are so strange, really

I would never count them as a punk band. I would like to hear your definition of what makes a punk band. I think it's the DIY attitude combined with not giving a shit about pretty much anything. If you think a punk band is based around the look of the band then you are a sad shallow little person, and not the type we punks would like to associate with.

Our musical belief is based on how fast, heavy, loud, groovy, and pissed off you can play, and the fact that your not on a major label (no punk likes being a part of corporate fuedalism). Being a punk is the realization that no one but you gives a shit about you, not the bands you like, your parents, your government, your boss, your teacher, your friends, the man/woman your sleeping with, so you say FU** YOU to it all. That's why real punks have a bond, they are the only ones that care about each other because they had the self-realization that no one else is going to.

I find it funny that kids spend obscene amounts of money to dress like their favorite punk rock band and then go around telling each other how punk their chuck taylors are. I buy vans, they're like 15 bucks a pair (and can last forever), I wear no name black & white shirts and ripped up blue jeans, I sometimes go to the salvation store to try and get some new pants or decent looking shirts. That's punk, whats not punk is spending 100 dollars on a fur lined, safety pinned, skull hoody.

I rant alot, I should work on that.

Generally I don't listen to Punk much, check my avatar and screenname and you should be able to guess what I'm into.
The only punk I listen to is Green day (when I'm in the mood for something a bit softer, though I like their older albums the best) Anti-Flag (yes I like them, so what!)
and Sum 41 (Does this look infected is the best Punk album ever imho, though after that it went downhill)

And I just have to say, since someone mentioned No Doubt a while back.
clears throat
All members of No Doubt should die in a fire, except Gwen Steffani. She should be tied to a pole, standing above a still growing bamboo tree, and be kept alive while the bamboo slowly grows straight up into her body, ever so slowly killing her.
If I wasn't clear, I hate them, especially Gwen Steffani.
