Rape in Smut (or call them Cliches if you like...)

^^ You know, the part in almost every smutty manga where:
Girl meets Guy for the first time and dislikes him. Guy rapes Girl, and Girl suddenly falls in love with Guy even though she hated him and abused her only moments ago...
The end?
Well, maybe sometimes there's the part where Girl (same ppl previously mentioned above) meets Guy's Rival (or something like that), who is really nice and friendly to her. Rival tries to kiss Girl, yet is slapped and rejected for Guy...
Am I the only who gets pissed off when this happens? This was exactly why I gave up reading smut at the age of 13...

Seconds-I read a one shot with it and couldn't get over the girl choosing her rapist over a perfectly nice boyfriend. It was a bit horrifying.
Kind of related to the whole rape thing is how many of the smut mangas I read are dub-con (dubious consent). I'd call it rape 'cept the couple's supposed to be all happy and in love, so I guess there's implied consent. Seriously, one more "guy gets girl up against a wall and does whatever the hell he wants while she screams no" scene and I'm gonna scream. I can think of a handful of shoujo smut where the consent wasn't dub, and even then the sex tends to be all sorts of screwed up for other reasons, or it's a one-shot.

kinda like stockholm syndrome. Where the hostage symphasizes with the terrorist or wahtever and falls in love with him or her.

i totally agree. its always the same pattern. Girl is a "strong, independant" woman, she meets her "childhood friend" again, only to find out she hates him (obviously something traumatic happened back then). They end up alone at some point, the guy has his way with her, shes disgusted (usually because he "stole" her first kiss) then she realizes shes really attracted to him, they go out ( on/off relationship) another guy comes in the picture( either a douchebag or a really nice guy ) he tells bf he'll "steal her from him" bf gets pissed, forbids chick from seeing douchebag, she doesnt get it, hangs out with said guy anyways, gets attacked, cries, boyfriend comes in the nick of time saves her, says "i told you so" and has sex with her so she forgets all about the attack. the end.

I wonder how these are targeted at women as well. But I guess it doesn't make sense targeted at men since it disturbs the heck out of me.

It disturbs plenty of women too, but the explanations are usually along the lines of: BDSM fantasies, taboo, dangerous but safety net 'cause of the romanticism, something Freudian, and a whole host of other meta along that line. It shows up just as often in novels (and probably more often in fanfic-angst+romance filter at ff.net will turn up enough rapefic to turn anyones stomach), so there's tons of stuff written on it.
On that, I also hate all the "hero comes along a girl who was almost raped/raped and sleeps with her and makes it all better-bonus points if the healing sex is violent/rough*. It can definitely be pulled off with some characters, but usually not the ones I see in these mangas.
*Which seems to be the only type of sex almost anyone has.

I'd like to see one where the manga ends with unexpected criminal prosecution. Now that would make for a decent ending.

hehe. now that you mentioned it, I wouldn't mind seeing that too. I'd love to see the characters that piss me off in that kind of situation. It would definately make for an interesting story. Unfortunately, though, it would only happen in our minds and not in the actual manga.

Huh...
Possible explanations mangakas might have thought of:
-
The thing is, none of the rapists in smut manga is ugly/weak/poor. He's always someone with power, influence and looks, he's a so called alfa male, perfect in the biological sense, a carrier of good or even superior ( vide Mayu's works ) genes. Even if the girl gets traumatized by the way he treated her, yet her brain, stimulated by the pheromones, still wants the best male around for the procreation purpose. Girl's subconscious in this case can work against her will and produce chemical substances, that affect her judgement.
-
Girl's conscious in order to protect her before a permanent damage, masks the memories and makes her believe, that it wasn't so bad. Self-defence.
-
Girl is justifying the man ( he "wanted her so bad", or some other bullshit ), just to relieve some of the post effect.
Actually, I've no idea how in the world Mayu and co can think, that falling for a rapist is sth happening in the real world. Or, that their works are suitable lectures for young girls!! They are usually labelled 'shoujo', when there should be a special genre for them, sth like 'stupid unrealistic bullshit that makes you sick'.
I'm not some sort of an enemy of smut. I like Yuki Yoshihara's works, funny and adorable "sex comedies", aimed at young women.
I just can't stomach some mangaka, for example Mayu and Minami Kanan 😐

I doubt you are the only one.. there is me as well 🤣 .
Yeah, that's pretty stupid.. I read a few manga of this sort, annoyed me too.
It looks like that's the basic idea for such storys 🤣 ..
But not all smut manga are bad!! Yoshihara Yuki's stuff is really good and funny, and it IS smut 😃 .
There is no rape in her manga (the once I've read so far), unless you call "girl jumping on guy" motive rape.
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.
