Rape in Smut (or call them Cliches if you like...)

sigh I do hate that. That is exactly why I hardly read smut manga anymore except for a selected few. That kind of cliche is basically the story of every shinjo mayu manga.

I think what's most ironic about the whole thing is that most of the smut series I've read where rape occurs is shoujo, not josei or anything. Shoujo. I mean, come on, it's marketed to a younger audience! I'm sorry, but that really pisses me off. Tons of rapes occur every year and aren't reported or are ignored because people believe stereotypes, and these mangas aren't doing anything to destroy them.
I must say, the most pathetic mangaka in this regard is, in my opinion, Minami Kanan. I mean, Shinju Mayu's bad and all, but her mangas all have rape in them, and she doesn't bother trying to act like she has a conscience about it. But Minami Kanan's a whole other story. Honestly, reading two or her one-shots made me sick: Jun'ai Koza Kemono Shiyou and The Second Rape. Why? Because the first one was rape, period. No degree of consent was involved, they weren't dating, and even if they were tying someone up and raping them while they sob and beg you not to do it, and fight so hard they get lacerations on their wrists, is not consensual at all. EVER. And yet she realizes that she loves her rapist, aww, how sweet. Compare that to The Second Rape, found in Kakene Nashi no Love Torihiki. It's about the emotional trauma a girl suffers after being raped. How the helll does anyone who writes one of the most vicious rape stories I've ever seen have ANY right to then try and pretend to have a conscience by writing one about the trauma associated with it? It's not pathetic, that word isn't strong enough.
And another stereotype that pisses me off on the topic is that while these girls are having their virginities stolen, they're quite enjoying it. No pain - or very little at least - is associated with it, and their rapists often torment them by talking about how "your body doesn't hate what I'm doing to it." Newsflash: if she's a virgin, it does. However, that statement is then followed by a flurry of thinking from the "heroine" about how it's odd, but she's excited by the way he's touching her! Try TERRIFIED, because that's what any woman would truly feel while being raped. At the very, very, very least, she wouldn't be enjoying it.
Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that every now and then I do find a good smut with no rape or blatant coersion, I would stop reading the genre completely, because it makes me sick to read about women enjoying being raped and falling in love with their rapists. That's not human nature, period. Someone should find a way to make the idiotic mangakas understand this.
i'm new to manga, but this conversation is interesting. what are some titles of mangas that are like that? sorry if i sound weird. 😀

Err... here's some recommendations then..
The WORST choices but good start for Noobs...
Works by Shinjo Mayu and Minami Kanan
If you want some drama, then try reading Desire Climax, Midnight secretary and Love Monster..
as for incest.. try reading Boku wa Imouto ni Koiwosuru
And if you want to read slightly better smut, then read the works by Yoshihara Yuki especially the latest ones. And also the some of the one-shot works by Kayono
Enjoy ^___^///////////

I always cheer for that rival but the mangaka disappoints me and makes her end up with the rapist, it's annoying. And that is why I've been ignorning smut releases now, and I've forbid myself from reading Shinjo Mayu and [a]Minami Kanan[/m](though for her, I read Kyou, but that's it)

hah! Eventhough I f*cking hate Shinjo Mayu's works, I still keep up the releases cuz I'm curious to see how Retarded the plot is going.
Remember Love Celeb..Gawd!!!11 I can't believe how RETARDED the plot is going right naw! and the female character is getting stupid every CHAPTER!
I stopped reading Minami Kanan and other smutty mangas though.
The Best smut you can find is the smuts by Yoshihara Yuki. The plot and characters usually oveshadows the SEX scenes!
As people always say, WE can't Just Rely on the SMUT!
