Ey man, The Charlie Brown Christmas Album is crack. Now that I think about it, most christmas songs have been made into some incredible instrumental tracks.

Yes! Hands down! Vince Guaraldi Trio = pure win... especially during this season!

And pretty much the entire Pride & Prejudice Soundtrack from the new version... especially Liz on Top of the World, Darcy's Letter, and Dawn.

Yes! I watched this movie over and over b/c of the amazing soundtrack!

Everyone's got great suggestions here... I'm just gonna throw in the Death Note OST 1... great scratchy guitar... love love!

And the Amelie soundtrack by Yann Tiersen!

Gotan Project -- pretty sexy tango/electronica going on...

If you like post-rock, some of the bands I adore from that genre are:

Long Distance Calling:

te' :

Ninth Moon Black:

Líam :

Yeah, these bands represent more about the atmosphere and the raw emotive power it gives out more than the message/agenda that each particular band has.

Opera without Words...

"E lucevan le stelle" from Puccini's Tosca.
WAIT! I found a more PASSIONATE and chilling version of this... but piano-fied!

and might as well...

The finale from that same opera...

gaaaaah... dang it... it's so chilling... <3

And briefly scrolling through these suggestions, I'm now hungry for some classical Spanish guitar... like this guy

I listen to classical usually for "instrumental" music. There's also jazz, but I prefer vocals with that. Anime related instrumental music that is good even after all these years is the Samurai Champloo OST.
