Ok. Am I the only one who has seen the same exact characters used in many of her other manwa. I mean that have the same faces, hair, personality, and even their role in the story line (example: Honggane's Park Hyo-il and Become Habituated to Kiss's Ko Eun Ho). At first, I thought that she was doing the same thing clamp was doing by putting illusions of her other stories, but now I know that is not the case. I mean what is the point of recycling characters? I starting to wonder if she really does lack in creativity. But then again, I prefer her any of her manwa to any of the twilight books.

I mean really?! Sparkles?! What the hell is that about?! 🤣

From what I hear, Hwang Mi Ri and Han Yu Rang are not actualy "people".

^ A Korean portal site page with basic info about it. There are many other rumors about this.

It's actually quite rumored around the internet that Hwang Mi Ri, Han Yu Rang and these other "robot" manhwa makers are "factory manhwa makers". These factory manhwa makers are a giant group of hired assistant working to make manhwas with the same art very quickly (at times, there is an actual "author", but there's still that giant group of assistants helping). They do not actually put in the time and effort to make the manhwa- they merely draw- so obviously the quality of the manhwa drops tremendously. Hwang Mi Ri herself is not at a high demand in the Korean manhwa market (or at least, in my opinion, it seems that way) but "she" still survives anyways, probably because the companies have enough resources to profit out of the actual "buying income".

It's a rumor, but hey, it's a pretty believable rumor, considering the speed these are being published, and this rumor has been going around the internet for a while (there are actual authors that have previously confessed to being "factory manhwa makers").

The rumor seems pretty legit because if I were her, I'd get pretty bored from making the same thing all the time. 🤣
Edit: I think she's not in high demand anymore because the manhwa market is growing and coming out with more unique manhwa's now. Maybe when it's competitive as the manga's market; there will be no more "factory manhwa makers".

Just wanted to chime in: recycling characters and ideas doesn't always mean that the author lacks creativity, sometimes it's just a matter of having fetishes. XD Well, preferences. Just like some readers choose manga with similar character types, art style, and plot lines.

It's always about Jjangs and fighting in her stories.

Actually I guess that's the case in 90% of all manhwa.

To everyone who keeps saying "if you don't like it, don't read it".
TRUST me, I avoid anything with her name attached to it like the plague.

Nonetheless, she spams up my manga searches.
And she gives a bad name to korean manwha.

I wish there was a way of tagging all hwang mi ri manga such that I could write some sort of addon to permanently delete her from my internet existence.

hemmm hahaha I also am tired of her heroine that always has same character. It's not about the heroine's artwork, it's ok if the face same cause the artist is the same, and it's often happen, but, OY, same character/trait??!?
It's suck, really. In her first manhwa I read, it's OK. Second, starting 😕 , third, 🤢 what the...?!
Clumsy, stupid, but charming (?) awawawawawa enough 😮
It's fatal, very very 🙁

Wrong.
Just to name a few:
Goong
Bride of the water god
Chronicles of the Grim Peddler
Magical JxR
Song of the Doll
Lost in London

It's just Hwang Mi Ri and Han Yu Rang that have an extreme case of it.
Though chances are in a school-life situation there will be things like jjang, but other than that only a few other series that I have read that had jjang's in manhwa.
Herp derp.

I guess it's better to say that 90% of modern theme manhwa is about Jjangs. In almost any school themed manhwa, there's always at least the mention of a Jjang. I think the Japanese equivalent is Bancho but how often do you hear that?

It's like Korean high schools are ruled by delinquents.

People always thing jjangs have to be gangster or delinquents but it's not necessarily true.

How is that not true? What else can a Jjang be? The Jjang as far as I know is the unofficial "leader" of the school and the best fighter there that the rest of the delinquents worship. In what other context can a Jjang be?

No... In a school I went to there was this whole stupid 'jjang' business but they didn't get into fights and stuff. They were just "popular" and acted tough and gave the facade that didn't give a shit about anything. They made the underclassmen bow to them when they passed by and made them use honorifics. Not once have they actually beat someone up or got into a fight. Shouldn't believe everything you see in manhwa.

i checked the number of volumes... i'm not sure if i got a couple wrong.... but i got 1037 volumes haha.
if she started since the 70's that would be about 25 volumes a year.... meaning 2 volumes a month. and if we were to say.... 180 pages each volume.... about 12 pages per day.... everyday for 40 years. 🙂

Another running theme in Hwan Mi Ri's manhwas that extremely bother me is the idea that only stupid people are happy while anyone else remotely intelligent are dark and twisted by the complexities of their minds. Please! Gag me with a spoon, I mean, come on! Seriously? Every single main character seem to have three functions in life: eating, fighting and throwing tantrums over eating and fighting. Somehow, I doubt dark, demented handsome guys (who are usually the love interests) find the behaviors of spoiled toddlers attractive, though this seems to be the case in her comics. Those genius assholes seem to find conversations about needing more food or beating people stimulating.I mean whenever I encounter conversations like that it only makes me remember why I only babysit for money. Take Hot Blooded Woman. Even though Hwang Mi Ri's manhwas annoy me I decided to give this one a try. In my opinion so far it's one of the better ones but what pisses me off is

the whole thing between the main character and the chick whose body she is inhabiting. They keep saying how the main character can remain happy because she's dense and completely oblivious to everything, while the weak rich girl whose body she inhabits is always ill because of mental stress. Her interests are considered to be on the intellectaul side and for some reason that doesn't include any 'unladylike' pursuits. What pisses me off is when the manhwa progressed past her bitchiness she seemed actually pretty interesting when she wasn't tortured by her obsession with the male lead and when she wasn't constantly mentally stressed. Stupid. >:-(

Legend of Nereid's female lead was actually somewhat intelligent but so much shit happened to her and she got all messed at at some parts. It just pisses me off! What kind of people did Hwang Mi Ri look up to in high school?! God, probably sick assholes and dumbass chicks if her stories are of any indication...

Her art didnt change now that i think of it. I agree on the robot theory. Manhwa robot. I dont mind her work though. Not my favourite but not horrid. About average i think.

This topic cracks me up. XD

Sadly, I keep trying to read her manwhas. I've attempted so many of them, and yet... I've never found one that I actually enjoy. Most of them I end up dropping after a few volumes. Why, Hwang Mi Ri, why?
