I did give my boys the latest English volumes of Case Closed and One Piece. And I gave my niece the first three volumes of Yotsubato! for her birthday in the middle of November, if that counts.

Lol, why would you give your sons the Viz version of One Piece? is still scarred from reading one chapter of the official release Then again, the scanlations of the first dozen volumes of One Piece are pretty bad. I'm so glad Null took over. Yay for high quality!

Oops, I voted, "No," but I just remembered that my friend gave me the original Skip Beat (volume 1). I've been planning to practice my Japanese, but it's very tedious reading everything when I don't know 99.9% of the kanji and 99.8% of the verbs. 😛

edit: I got three sweaters, a coat, and a little money for x-mas.

Because they enjoy it, they don't read Japanese, and they much prefer real books (you know, actual paper... 🤣 ) over reading stuff on the computer. 😀 (Also, we don't have enough computers for all three of us to read scanlations at the same time... 😳 )

Oh, that makes sense. Haha, make them read crummy translations while you get the good stuff on the computer. I should do that to my kids. 😀 No, I couldn't bear to see my kids watching the 4kids version of One Piece. I would rather burn dozens of CDs of fansubbed One Piece. "Okay, kids, this is reality: No pirate would ever shoot someone with a cork gun. Oh, and this person - she dies." ...I think my kids will become twisted.

Now back to the topic: Would getting the raws to Skip Beat count as getting manga? I mean, I can't really read it. 🤣

Of course! Regardless of whether you can really read it or not, it's manga~

I did order manga from Amazon with some of my Christmas money - Basara 24 & 25, Kindaichi (The Gentleman Thief), and Fruits Basket 18 - but it's not due to arrive for another 10-14 days or so.

Om my goodness, no. I wish I had the gift of tongues. But alas, my English is passable and my Spanish is dreadful, beyond that I only know the bare minimums of French, "where is my luggage?" "Taxi go to the ____ hotel please."

When I said my friends live far away, I mean they live very far away. One of my best friend's boyfriend lives in the Netherlands, he sent me Monster, another of my friends went to live in France for a summer to study and picked me up my favourite volume of Clamp manga, X/1999 16, my grandmother lives near the Mexican border and does day shopping trips there, so Clover is from her, and the Japanese ones I don't know where my friend acquired. The rest were what I spent my gift card from my aunt on.

I feel grateful for living in Canada xD
I know french, english, some japanese, vietnamese, and my friend is teaching me spanish prostitute phrases =)

But many of my friends/family don't enjoy my manga obsession so I had to splurge my christmas money =(
