I'd rather not have MU connected to Facebook...

But Idk, that's just my stand.

This.

It's a nice idea don't get me wrong, but I'd rather not have facebook invade this place as well.

just curious... why?

its used very casually on so many other manga forums, why not MU?

Well, in online manga sites, some of them have the "like" button.. but you can count with one hand who use it. It's not effective.
Even I share what I like to read in FB, my friends won't give it a damn matter. See... most people don't read manga.

That's where the word invade is important. Facebook is already everywhere, please, not MU too....

The like button in general is just a bad idea. It's like the 1-10 rating scale...providing less specific information

Why not include fb here too, after all it is used for 'almost' every social website that I have been

Wouldn't just looking at the votes on the series info page tell you how popular a particular series is?

And if someone is too lazy to give a vote, then they're probably going to be too lazy click on a like button.

i think like buttons are more appealing and way simpler...

Your opinion is not the majority.

oh thats right, because i was totally claiming it to be the majority, right...? 🙄

No, your opinion is just more or less irrelevant because it's not. Who cares if you didn't say that? The line of logic doesn't change.

do you think it would be cool if there was a facebook "like" button at each manga "series info" or "mangaka" page that you can click the like button, "like" on other websites.

i think this would be pretty cool because we can see how wide of a fan base each manga or mangaka has

i mean it might start off slow but i think it would be pretty cool after a while to see
we can see whos over-rated and who's under-rated...

example...

akira toriyama 144 likes

tite kubo 155 likes

so i'd like to see responses to see if people would like or dislike this idea
would you use it?

please stop trying to make this site more facebook-like. I like this site as it is.
And a like button doesn´t tell very much. There is no further information, and you can press the like button on something you kinda like and on something you love, so there wouldn´t a difference be shown -.-

No, expression is fine. I'm sort of confused as to why you don't understand this. Because your opinion does not represent the majority, in this particular instance, it doesn't have any weight. Saying something like "well I prefer it when things are like X" is ultimately meaningless when few people seem to share that opinion and the problem at hand is something which impacts a community. It would be impractical and illogical to attempt to change a system because one random person prefers something a certain way.

The issue is really that your rejection of a cogent argument can be simply reduced to "I like something else better." There's no substance, no evidence, nothing to prove your point. Just an empty opinion. That doesn't add anything to the discussion, it's just a waste of hot air, much like this post of mine itself, quite frankly.

I'd rather not.

Mostly because it's redundant, considering that we already have ratings.

No. Just... no.

I'm already creeped out about Facebook as it is, looming from every page, in every corner of the internet... I don't want it to defile MU too.

Why are we so desperate to centralize the internet lately?

I approve. Just because all the horrified complaints at a facebookified MU would amuse me. 🤣
