facebook "like" button for manga

do you think it would be cool if there was a facebook "like" button at each manga "series info" or "mangaka" page that you can click the like button, "like" on other websites.

i think this would be pretty cool because we can see how wide of a fan base each manga or mangaka has
i mean it might start off slow but i think it would be pretty cool after a while to see
we can see whos over-rated and who's under-rated...
example...
akira toriyama 144 likes
tite kubo 155 likes
so i'd like to see responses to see if people would like or dislike this idea
would you use it?
why because i am the president of the student council of course

i thought there was already something like that.... 😕
I'd rather not have MU connected to Facebook...
But Idk, that's just my stand.

Wouldn't just looking at the votes on the series info page tell you how popular a particular series is?
And if someone is too lazy to give a vote, then they're probably going to be too lazy click on a like button.

i think like buttons are more appealing and way simpler...

This.
It's a nice idea don't get me wrong, but I'd rather not have facebook invade this place as well.

I would really prefer if MU kept the heck away from social networking.
Besides, the current voting system would be more accurate because it gives you how much people like a series on a scale 1 to 10.

I say BU just gets there own "like" buttons, unrelated to fb. Such as an "I enjoyed reading this." button and a "This was unpleasant to read." button. Or even simpler "I do/don't recommend this." buttons. Because everyone perceives the 1-10 scale differently, I'd like to know directly whether something is worth reading or not.

Don't do it.
Facebook is evil.
In fact, googling "Facebook is evil" tells you everything you need to know about this topic.
(And if it's just about a "Like" button unrelated to facebook, the voting system is superior, although the option to vote should be placed above the comments, not below.)

agreed. i honestly don't like the current facebook. i joined facebook back when it was a social networking site for college students only. but times have changed, and they're doing anything they can for profit. there's nothing wrong with that, but i would rather keep MU the way it is (a place for fans away from the corporate world). besides, to use the like button, i think you have to have a facebook account and not everyone has one. i would rather have people voluntarily join facebook than force them to join in order to use an unnecessary feature.
as for the like button itself, i don't really find it appealing. i've noticed them on mangafox, and i think they're pretty useless and ignore them. MU already has a voting feature which incorporates both positive and negative votes. the like feature seems to only count the positive and will end up biased. as for whether the manga is worth reading, you could also read the comments to see people's opinion on the series. the entire "like" and voting is subjective anyways. what i enjoy could be different from what others enjoy. adding a like button will just give users another potential source for abuse.

Your opinion is not the majority.

I have to agree with some of the others, this idea doesn't appeal to me at all. I do think Facebook is convenient for keeping in touch and stuff, but I don't see the point in 'liking' every single thing so everyone can see. It just turns into a wave of spam on other people's Facebook that most people don't even look at.
Besides, looking at how many people have Facebook liked a manga wouldn't represent the fanbase: some people don't have facebook, some don't care to click loads of 'like' buttons, and some wouldn't want to click a 'like' button for certain manga... hentai manga for example. Especially if you have your parents as Facebook friends. "Hi son, I see you liked some comic about 'Tentacle Rape' on Facebook." AWKWARD.
If you want to see how large the fanbase is for a manga, look at the votes or the number of people who have it on reading/complete lists.

this
i think we can adopt the anidb way: beside a short comment is some kind of symbol to indicate whether the series is recommended/highly recommended/for fan only
on second thought, that is what the comment title is for, isn't it?

I like the "do recommend/do not recommend" idea
For example, My friend and I read a manga, we like it the same but we have different views on the 0-10 scale - I give it a 7 and he gives it a 5
If someone that thinks like me see his vote he will think "It's a bad manga, I won't read it"
If someone that thinks like him see my vote he will read it, but will be dissapointed since it wasn't as good as the rating he saw.
Well, it's not a real problem for someone who thinks like my friend, but the guy who thinks like me might be missing a good manga because of the low rating.(this happens to me a lot, I avoid a manga for years because of bad ratings/reviews and when I happen to read I find it a good manga)
About being related to facebook, I think it shouldn't.....In some countrys like my own people don't use facebook(we have a site that works out better)
