New Poll - Best Shounen (besides One Piece)

I voted for Fullmetal Alchemist, which is great, but I'm partial to some older titles. Flame of Recca in particular was rather excellent, as was Yu Yu Hakusho. I just finished a re-read of Recca last week, and I was surprised at just how much the newer shounen titles steal from it. I hadn't remembered it well enough from the first time around I guess.
Fullmetal Alchemist~!
This is what made me really like the Shounen genre as a female. I loved Dragon Ball but FMA completely won me over. One of my all time favorites! 😛

They're all decent, I suppose. Some has glaring weakness, whether in background, story progression, or story telling style. Not that I mean one style is inferior to other, but more to inconsistency.. I hope voters are well aware of each choice positive and negatives and not blinded by their own favouritism. But hey, its not like this vote has some authority. If it is, more suggestion will come in, and preliminary stage will take place before this one and only decisive vote.

FMA will win easily, and with merit. It might be the only manga whose chapters never disappointed me, not even once. It has good drawings, interesting characters and story, and a writing style that could catch the interest of all demographics. One of the very few manga that could compete with great books.
I love how people decide that a work can't be put in a certain demographic simply because they don't find it appealing. I, as a guy, loved Pandora Hearts, and I would have voted for it hadn't FMA be there. I'd love to see more shounen like that one. On the other hand, I hate with passion all the manga that base themselves on big breasts and harems, but that doesn't mean I think they're not shounen or seinen. People have different tastes, and you're bound to find works appealing to all the large spectrum of the audience. Besides, demographics are just meant as a way for publishers to classify manga and decide on which magazine they would probably sell more. You seldom hear of demographics about books. I dare say that often the most classifiable works are those of low quality.
My current top 3:
Fullmetal Alchemist
Pandora Hearts
3-gatsu no Lion

I recognize more titles from your unmentioned list than the ones actually running for the votes lol. I think given how big this kind of vote is, the time should be longer so more people can participate. I am literally surprised how Bleach doesn't even get into the list.

No question and no doubt. My vote goes to FMA 😎 v
I'm surprised that Mahou Tsukai no Yome was actually close to being one of the top ten even though I am someone who nominated it.
Anyway, totally going for FMA and am fairly certain FMA will win since One Piece is out. I mean when you search all manga/manhua/manwha/etc on MU and set it by rating FMA is shown as top manga with over 3000 votes.

Pfft, Pandora Hearts, hands down, period. I consider it a literary classic of the 21st century. (Now I just need someone to canonize it. 🤣 ) But seriously, I haven't read a piece of literature maybe ever that's touched me quite like this series has. An absolute masterpiece.
That being said, I have absolutely no objections to FMA heading the poll. It's a masterpiece in its own right as well, and while I don't think it's quite as well done as Pandora Hearts, it's a beautiful work of art in itself and a must-read for anyone who even remotely considers themself a learned reader. 😃
I'm a little surprised at some of the flimsier shounens that were nominated, though I suppose I shouldn't be. I mean, Death Note? I can see being entertained by it for cheap thrills, but it's overall pretty meritless and has little substance. This poll is for BEST shounen, not favorite, and I feel like oftentimes, people can't distinguish between the two. Death Note's got nothing on the psychological scale of FMA, in any case, and putting it on the same level as it is... 😔 Well, that's just my (snotty) opinion, at least. 😛
(Yes, I DO have a vendetta against Death Note! SO MUCH WASTED POTENTIAL!! -sob- xP)
Edit: @train93, I totally agree with everything you said about demographic! My pet peeve is when people are looking for manga and say things like, "I don't read shoujo," or whatever, like all shoujos are about whiny girls wanting boyfriends and falling in love. Because then lovely series like Natsume Yuujinchou get passed over, even though it's nothing like a "conventional" shoujo, or the shoujo stereotype. I understand if someone has a particular genre that doesn't interest or engage them, but judging based on demographic is just silly.

Maybe too recently, I prefer to give my votes to complete masterpieces as FMA <3 and world trigger might be a bit too new to have many fans, even if it's a jump manga

Slam Dunk didn't make the cut?! Children nowadays.. sigh~
In my humble opinion, Hunter x Hunter is definitely one of the best shounen(s) that would outrun O.P anyday, if the manga hasn't gone to hiatus all the time. Yoshihiro Togashi, without a doubt, able to create more complex/imaginative story lines compared to "lets hop on every single islands/towns" to expand our horizon / social networking / fighting capability agendas..
FMA is okay, but, too many drama & the not-so-amusing humorous parts didn't entertain me much.

So sad that Claymore didn't make it in this time around. 🙁 It would have been the clear pick for me, but now I have to choose between AoT and FMA... Probably the former, because the latter has had an eight year head start. 😀

the choice seems a bit mixed, maybe placing a time range of when it's first published will make it more fairer. due to generation difference.

I voted for Attack on Titan. Although I do like FMA, and Horimiya, they didn't get me into this completely obsessive phase where I NEED to read/watch everything. It's what got me into reading SnK DJs >.> Just so I could get more of a fix... yeah fix seems like a right word.
Yes yes, I know I make longwinded comments, but that's just me >.<
I should proof read my comments more, but I won't...
So keep in mind I'm filled with typos
