What's the best image editor you've ever used.
I wanted to try PhotoShop but I heard it cost $700 and it takes 7 yrs to master but it seems like everyone has it, how are people affording this!!!?? I heard Gimp was the free version of PhotoShop so I started using it, I'm getting used to it, the only time I bother to learn something new is when I need to, and I love my brushes, I sit there and collect a whole bunch I don't even need.

... People BUY photoshop. XD And it doesn't take that long to get the hang of. Most editing programs are more or less the same. 7 years to master is laughable. XD At least if all you do is draw or scanlate in it.

I use Photoshop CS 5 (no, I didn't buy it like I'm supposed to~).

Lol you shouldn't worry about that kinda stuff. Just learn at your own pace but go steal photoshop first.

MS paint. It can do what all the others can do, you just need more skills.

Everything else is for the weak.

CinePaint or Lightzone.

The former isn't really mortal friendly, but it's the only app that's capable of displaying the full ProPhoto-RGB gamut (if you don't know what this is, then you probably don't need it) .... The latter has some filters I like that Adobe doesn't offer.

There are others I use, but they're more for vector or design stuff, not strictly image editors.

Point & Squirt

I use Photoscape most of the time, especially when I'm making GIFs. However, if I'm not satisfied with the results from Photoscape, the I go to Photoshop CS5. Took me a while to learn how to use them 🤣 .
