This thread caught my attention due because I'm having a hard time finding good manga nowadays. But ever since I read this thread, I'm lately finding good manga's. Thanks for this.

I'm glad you replied. This is exactly the reason why I wrote this guide in the first place, to help people.

To be honest, it's a last ditch desperation move. The other options are much more effective 🙂 .
I thought it was interesting though how you could analyse the "downs" and get a feel for a series popularity through the chapters/volumes. I used it a few times but I don't recommend it.

Looking for manga is like squeezing a wet towel: at the end you have to put all your strength so you can get some more (inversely, your desire for more increases exponentially, while you try to get those last yet inexhastible little drops).

Sometimes, when searching for some manga, I just type the title name in inverted commas, followed by megaupload/mediafire or some other download service.

Like this: "Chicken Sausage vol 1", mediafire

Also, there are a ton of great manga not listed under demographics like shoujo, josei, seinen or shounen, etc. 🙂

I want to suggest the new phone application that I have recently found called “ManHwa”.
T hey have lots of popular Korean comics in various genres so I think it would be a very useful app to check out for everyone interested in reading

comic books!!

During the first usage, I realized that it kind of took a long time when it was loading but it seems to work fine after the app completes loading for

the first time. I’m guessing the app takes a bit to launch all the comic books.

I really like how the app is set up and organized. Each comic come with a brief description and couple preview pages prior to downloading the full

version. I think the best part is that the app is free and some of the comic books are also free to download.

For those of you who are familiar and interested in K-POP and Korean entertainment, I noticed that a lot of the famous korean movies and

dramas, like Moss and Full House, were in this app as comics.

I did not have much problem on my IPad but I thought the pictures and writings could be slightly too small to view on IPhone for some people.

However, the app has a “cut view” to enlarge each cut which is very useful!!!

Oh! And I also found out that you can set up the language setting to Korean and read them in Korean.

"MANHWA” Application is definitely worth checking out if you want some high-quality comic selections. I highly recommend!!!! Have fun!

To Download, search for MANHWA or KOCCA

This is more yaoi specific but I follow some Yaoi blogs on tubmlr and they post pages sometimes and give recommendations. The ones who do this best is Yaoi Reign who not only gives recs and post pages but they have EVERYTHING tagged. The reason why my yaoi wishes list is so massive is mostly due to them. I'm not sure about other genres but I am sure there are some other tumblrs dedicated to doing the same.

Pros: everything is tagged with authors and titles so it's easy to google it or look it up on BU Manga. The screencaps/pages give you a hint as to what you are looking for.

Cons: if you add it to your wishlist, it might be a while to get around to it and you forget WHY you added it. Some of the caps are from unscantalated manga or manga that just can't be found online [i.e. their own personal copy that they scanned and cropped]. Not every blog tags their stuff properly or misspells things so sometimes you just can't find it or you have to do a reverse image search.

Ehe, I guess this is something you can only do if you're in Japan or have access to a Japanese bookstore overseas, but I like to take a pencil and paper to Book-Off, K-Books, or manga cafes. I write down the titles that catch my interest, and look it up to read online. If I really like the series, I go and buy the volumes (they're so cheap here, holy crap).

@Mitsu - Yeah, I've done similarily on tumblr. :3 However, most series turn out to be disappointments. Most of the time, when I see a nice BL mangacap, and go read the original, the story usually sucks.
; v; Well, then again, I did discover Endou-kun and a few other BL manga with that method. u wu

i think you missed a method.
my method consists of opening up the categories page and the advanced search page. i mark my genres and put in categories and boom a list of results. if there are too many results i go back and i add more categories and i subtract some categories like this:
werewolf/ves
-vampire/s

emphasis on the "-" mark.
as i go along i create a new list and add the ones i like and i avoid the rest and then next i remove one of the categories from earlier so i can avoid messing with the ones i already checked like this:
vampire/s
-werewolf/ves

that way i can slowly check alot of different areas and get the best easily.
i then check ones that have both because earlier i removed ones that had both and not just 1:
werewolf/ves
vampire/s

later i record what i did in a .txt and over time i add my combinations to it to avoid wasting time.
after a few months i go through the tags again and check for new series.

TLDR i use process of elimination in my tags/categories to find what i want. i then make a new list and add them all to it. later i make a .txt with the ones i've already checked in it.
