its because its cheaper to attack the internet, just trace the source of the files, while selling in stores takes more effort(finding/tracing the sellers, if from overseas even more work) and more men to cover(since on the internet anyone can go from us to china in seconds but in person it takes time, power, and leg work, as well proff) in the end the internet is the cheaper one that effects the whole world.

at this point i wanna see those major hckers who hcked nintendo, sony, microsoft hit these assholes, im surprised they haven't done anything considering there attack on sony was due to there harsher anti h*cking enforcement policies. hack there private info, bring up there under table transactions and such. (accussing google, wiki, ect of abusing there power, bs)

Then again, if people continue downloading, etc., then there's no way the government can arrest that many people and not have a negative economic or social impact

ya, that argument does not work. the drug war caused tens of thousands of murders and hundred of thousands of arrests for non violet crimes. and saying you are a against it is political suicide its almost as bad as asking your wife for a divorce when she is recovering from cancer. 😀

Eblees has a point. If they are willing to throw you in jail for smoking something the rest of the world considers relatively(as in relation to tobacco/alcohol) harmless, then they will try to imprison for piracy as well...... mainly because our government is composed of people who don't give 2 #$%&s about the will of the people, and apparently also don't give a #$%$ that these huge numbers of people in prison for small crimes are causing a HUGE drop in financing.

So ya, regardless of any morality, math, or common sense, they will throw tons of people in jail. Land of the free is gonna go oxymoron quick 🤣

This is is fine by me depending on what they consider to be "primary" iif this counts for all file sharing sites I'm against it, or stuff like youtube as well. As far as I can see all they are doing is cutting u.s. funding to people who will still make cash, just not at the same level as before. It reduces incentive, and increases risk of pirating(internation trade investigation thing)... overall it still sucks but unless I'm mistaken the sites would still receive payment, and ad funds, from other countries most likely...

Again tho, I'm only grudgingly acceppting it on the condition that nothing is worded too ambiguously and that major filesharing sites remain(megaupload banned people, and removed pirated material very frequently. So its bull#$%# they got busted.)

Ill have to look at the actual bill to say anything concrete, but till then I think this is much more reasonable... no dns blocking, no f'ing people over for linking to pirating sites... heck this will probably just increase the market for reliable proxy servers, and maybe foreign versions of paypal..... only message I see this bill sending is if you are going to pirate, do it a bit more cautiously.

My only real concern, other than file sharing sites, is it never mentioned how much authority that investigation team has.... only mentioned it could hire people(white hats rejoice xp)..... that and say goodbye to free manga sites.... I'm guessing a subscription based site will be out soon enough tho.... they couldd just send a portion of the profits to the mangaka/publishing companies, and the companies would also gain an insight as to which type of manga are currently thriving in the english market.... doesn't seem like a horrible deal so I can see a few popping up sometime soon.
