I do, but it's only when people post up spoilers for upcoming chapters.

And when it's H-Manga.

What he said. It's usually an action series so I can make out the gist of what's happening despite a low level knowledge of the Japanese language.

I check out raws of new series to see if it's worth looking at when scanlations come out.

No, there's no point. I only read RAW doujinshi.

Sure. After waiting a month or two between releases - and only for the series that I'm desperate for. Luckily I can find the chinese versions and read those, but if not I'll resort to the raws. (But then I'll get a little frustrated and end up searching for the chapter summaries too...)

No! i will only look at the art for reference; that's about it. the is no point in trying to make sense out of it if i don't understand it.

Yes, but only for hentai. It suffers less from the loss of text than other genres

Yes, I'm incredibly guilty of doing that, since I wanted to buy raw Japanese manga so I can find things that are are not scanlated yet. A lot of shoujo from the 70's and 80's aren't scanlated, so I buy those.

No, never.

It's different from an anime, I can probably watch anime and understand a bit of what's going on because it's moving and I can recognize some words/phrases.

But with manga...it's much harder for me to comprehend what's going on unless it's some cliche shoujo manga.

Oh I do it for a number of reasons that you've listed in your options, but usually it's for the cliffhanger situations, especially when I know that the scanlation isn't going to be out for a while. If I know it's going to come out within the next week I'll wait.
I've also done it with the completed series because the scans are taking too long and I wanted to see what the hell happens, even if I don't read japanese. The pictures tell me enough for me to get what the hell is going on 🤣
There are only three series that I follow with the raws religiously because I actually can't wait to see what happens next I enjoy them that much.

Yes, even if the manga has never been scanlated before. I can't fluently read Japanese, but I can understand parts and pieces.

I chose the second option. As long as i have read one translated chapter i can "read" the next 20 volumes raw. I have no patience to wait for scans especially if the scans are waaaayyyy behind the raw.

Yup, I read raws for spoilers. Such shame. ;______;
And I can't even understand anything besides looking at pretty pictures.
