Who do you usually root for - the bad guy or the good guy?

Depends, but I like bad guys more. But I always go for the good guy if the bad guy obviously hurts the girl over and over again and treats her like crap. That's why I don't prefer Sho from Skip Beat.
It's different if the bad guy changes a bit and would go through hell/delinquents/whatever for his woman! -swoons-
Well, I think little me has to lay off on the shoujo for a while XD

Generally the bad guy-- if he is villainous enough! It sort of depends. If it is the irritating/disgusting 'bad-guy' then I generally root for the hero. However, if the bad guy is interesting enough to me then I always end up cheering for them.

I usually root for the one that I feel has better chemistry with the heroine. In reverse harems, sometimes I even end up rooting for a character that isn't even in the running. xD
But on a side note, I think it's amusing how people who like the good guys seem to think they never win and vice versa.

I dont get how people are saying the bad-boy never gets the girl. That kind of character usually does if he's a major character.

I think the title and the poll needs to be changed. The OP seems to have meant the guy who always loses rather than 'bad guy'. I think bad guy meant like bad choice, not necessarily having something wrong with the character.
I rooted for the loser in Hana Yori Dango and I find myself rooting for Sho too though I am not sure I would be happy if he actually won lol. I am rooting for Zero in Vampire Knight too but I am not quite sure he is the 'loser guy' here. I supported the wrong guy in Cat Street too, but the one she ended up with was also nice, so I wasn't too disappointed 😛

Bad guy. I've been that way since I was three >> When I started cheering on Prince Lotar from Voltron my parents realized they'd have to discretely do background checks on all my boyfriends ^^

I leave this post for five minutes and look at it.
Haha, I didn't realise it would become so controversial. Looking back, I should have put 'both' as an option, and probably made the options a little clearer. Sorry guys!
I guess a better explanation of what I meant was the guy who 'wins' the girl in the end, and the guy who 'loses'. The 'good guy' being the guy that the manga subtly leans towards the girl ending up with throughout the entire series, and the 'bad guy' the poor one you know, no matter what, is going to end up without the girl. Not very clear haha.
When I posted this I was suffering from reading too many manga where the whole time I could see the heroine wasn't going to end up with who I wanted them too, and desperately hoping the same time I was wrong haha. I guess I just confused this as in most of the manga I read at the time, the 'winner' was the good guy, and the 'loser' was the more interesting, bad guy. (Eg Vampire Knight, though I do still hold hopes Yukii ends up with Zero in the end!)
But glad to see all the opinions, and good to know I'm not alone in my shoujo hero choices 😛
Honestly I'd like to see more shoujo where when a girl takes forever to choose between two men, they both give up on her and she ends up alone. But there is no 'other' option in the poll.

I'd love to see this. Preferably with an annoying main character who deserves it. The only shoujo I can think of that sorta fits is 3 years.
