I rate my manga acording to my tastes...not the quality of the plot and/or the art:
10. Love it
9. Very interesting
8. A good read
7. It had it's moments
6. Boredom will make you read almost anything
5. What the hell was i thinking
4. I could have spent my time banging my head on a wall & it still whould have been better

That's as low as i go...i never found something that whould merit something lower than 4

Edit: I retract the previous statement...Ayu Mayu gets a 3 in my book. It's so stupid that it's way past funny...the whole plot could be resolved in a single page with a simple DNA test.

10 - I LOVE it. I'm going to re-read it at least 3 times, no matter how long it is.
9- It was REALLY good. I'm going to re-read it at least once.
8 - It was pretty good. I'm not going to re-read it though.
7 - Decent. I liked it, but wasn't like OMG THIS IS SOO GOOD or anything.
6 - Ehhhh, It was good... I suppose
5 - It was ok..
4 - I don't like it very much
3 - I REALLY don't like it.

10. I love it, and despite it's flaws, I'm constantly re-rereading it. I remember loving it. I want more.... if I see an update I want to download and read it right away. I want to recommend the series to others.
11. Pretty darn good, not a 10. I'll also will want to read updates the minute they are released.

13. Nothing I particularly hated, nothing I particularly liked. The manga is clique and not something I'd remember reading. I had no deep connection with the characters. Forgettable.
14. It didn't hold my interest, it wasn't really my thing, I was confused, or it had plot wholes. I was bored.
    5 or bellow, It's bad. The scans are bad, the scanlations is bad, the story is bad. I was offended, I couldn't finish it. It was too stupid. The characters didn't seem real... It was too sappy crappy. The art was poor.

I usually give everything a 7.

Usually I rate it by starting off with how much I enjoyed it out of 10
then I evaluate it at in terms of its story, character development, art, etc
and if there was anything exceptionally good or bad then I add or subtract the score...

=p

Recently though... I've been tempted to overrate or underrate manga to level out some of the outrageously overrated or underrated manga... tempted...

I rate my manga based on how many points I give it.

Out of 3 points: Enjoyment
0 - I regret reading it
1 - I don't mind finishing it
2 - Recommendable.
3 - I LOVED it.

Out of 3 points: Plot
0 - Made absolutely no sense
1 - I lost interest somewhere
2 - Good till the end
3 - Absolutely amazing

Out of 2 points: Art
0 - Too distracting
1 - Not bad, but not perfect
2 - Stunning

Out of 2 points: Original Concept
0 - Cliche
1 - Some new stuff
2 - Out of this world

Add it up and you get the rating out of 10.

I don't really rate it, i just discern good & bad, and some in the middle. If i read it and it was interesting but I'm able to forget it pretty quickly, it's most likely in the middle. If i try to read it but forced to drop it then obviously it = bad. Good manga/anime for me are ones that i finish or catch up on and it gets me depressed cause i cant continue reading or watching it, and it sticks in my head for a while. The most recent anime that I've finished was 2 seasons of Code Geass and it was very very good.

To me, the most important aspect of a manga is the story - I rate the story based on its originality, clarity, quality of conversations, educational value and finally the entertaining/uplifting qualities that it offers.

To me, the value of Art is only as important as its usefulness to convey the story.

Example - A manga like Kaze no Tani no Nausicaä would still get a 10 from me eventhough the art is not the best

When I read a book or manga I try to picture the thoughts of the author and their intentions - With such an approach, my higher ratings are often offered for the seinen genre.

A manga such as Love Hina should receive a 0 from me; hence, I abstain from voting on manga that completely fail to meet my expectations to avoid biasing the results. Similarly, I would not vote on any Hentai series or any Harem(ish) manga which I do not appreciate.

I don't really rate manga. For me manga falls in three categories:

1. really good, can't stop reading it.
2. nothing special, i read it only to pass time
3. nothing attracts me to it so I dropped it.

So it's kinda hard to give it a score based on this 😮

I am a very harsh, but fair critic. I've only rated a manga 10 out of 10 once. I've also never rated anything below 2. These are my ratings, I suppose:

10- Exceptionally done; loved every bit of it. Re-readable.
9- Excellently done; thought it was great but there were still flaws. Re-readable.
8- Not overly unique, but well done.
7- "It was okay."
6- Worth Reading, but barely.
5- Most likely gave it up, but if I didn't, I regretted not giving it up.
4- Gave it up, and with good reason.
3- Fake dog turd.
2- Real dog turd.
1- More unappealing than dog turd (use your imagination).

Walk on the pavement, watch T.V.;
Save for retirement, obey the law.

My scale is subjective and arbitrary, and generally based on how I feel after I've finished.
