There was a document that was leaked a month ago that listed a few names under a second fullmetal alchemist project. The same document also indicated another Darker than Black project, so with the new season of FMA, it seems likely that we'll also get another season of Darker than Black. Same production studio, after all.

This is great news, though I'm not really totally sure wether I want the new anime to continue with the anime storyline or go with the manga. I personally like both, I started out with the anime, thought it was amazing, read the manga and thought it was amazing too.
Redoing the series from the beginning would negate the first anime's existance though, which would kinda suck. Continuing the anime storyline would give it a distinct feel from the manga.
I love the manga, but i'm not really so much into making it an anime anymore. The manga medium is enough for FMA.
I don't wanna see a season 2 anime which follows the manga more than the first one, but still deviates when the storyline runs out. lol.
And about DtB, I haven't watched it yet. It's in my archive though, saving it up for another day.

One of the many reasons that I liked the FMA anime was it was one of the few that successfully deviated from the manga story line and did an awesome job with it. Personally I hope that they continue some where from the movie and continue to deviated from the manga. I really like the manga but as they did a good job going away from it in the beginning, don't see why they need to go back now. Also like someone said, if they go from the manga, it kinda nullifies the first series, which imo is not a good thing

Oh I see. Fun. Is DTB a manga series on it's own? -looks it up-.

The anime was before the manga. And they're completely different. Manga is more Shoujo-ish, while anime is more Seinen-ish.
Neglect the fact that those terms describe demographics, but you get what I mean I hope. >____<
In my opinion, and probably alot of others too, the anime is superior to the manga. So if you're interested in DtB, you should definitely watch the anime instead of reading the manga, IMHO.

actually i rather it kind of did, despite what we may say and the people here, manga isn't as widely read as it should.... compared to anime at least. i think if it was redone following the manga more closely then i think the story that the manga is telling would get more widely known.

that being the anime is better or the manga was better.
i thought it was a pretty good anime, until the last few episodes when it came down to like 2 people just trying to live forever and getting transported to a completely different world. i like my scifi/anime to make sense not completely change itself in the last episode

It's not that they were transported to a different world, it's that what's on the other side of the gate is a parallel world; our world. The two worlds branch off from one another with the success of alchemy in one, around the time of Isaac Newton, iirc. They're more or less the same up until that point. When Dante and Hoenheim are first experimenting with the philosopher's stone, it's during the time of the plague.
Actually, if you watch carefully the FMA anime does a pretty good job of making sense most times. There weren't too many plot holes that I saw.

Oh i knew all that. I just thought it was a terriable way to take the show, because it snuck up out of nowhere more or less.
