never having read the manga, how different is it from the anime?
It's way better story wise.
that being the anime is better or the manga was better.
i thought it was a pretty good anime, until the last few episodes when it came down to like 2 people just trying to live forever and getting transported to a completely different world. i like my scifi/anime to make sense not completely change itself in the last episode
It's not that they were transported to a different world, it's that what's on the other side of the gate is a parallel world; our world. The two worlds branch off from one another with the success of alchemy in one, around the time of Isaac Newton, iirc. They're more or less the same up until that point. When Dante and Hoenheim are first experimenting with the philosopher's stone, it's during the time of the plague.
Actually, if you watch carefully the FMA anime does a pretty good job of making sense most times. There weren't too many plot holes that I saw.
Oh i knew all that. I just thought it was a terriable way to take the show, because it snuck up out of nowhere more or less.

You think so? I thought that it was pretty good as far as shocking revelations go, that it gave the series as a whole a more relevant, historical feel. It felt less fanciful. Considering that they have to address what's in/beyond the gate at some point, preferably a point later in the series, I thought it was a masterstroke. It's also one of the definitive characteristics that separates the anime universe from its manga counterpart.
Besides, although there's no way to really deduce beforehand that the FMA world is connected to ours through the gate, there are clues that let you know that it's related somehow to ours - Izumi's reference to Christianity and its dating system, for instance.
But, to each his own.
Allow me to reacquaint you with... THE GROUND!

Dont care much about Darker than Black 😐 tho..
If you're saying that based only on the manga, then you'd actually be right.
Nope the anime started well but then settled into stereotypical cliched drama so I quit the last episodes- Bones really is an unlucky production for me
😐
Are you kidding me?
The last 5 episodes were awesome! 😲
The mini-arcs before were more exposition of the plotline and characters. Seriously, watch it.

It was really good but I guess when they hit the cliche button, I sort of lost interest:- old flame comes back, reminds Hei of those days...I actually stuck around coz Hei was sec C, 🙄 me and my likes >_>
Silly Bimbo, there is nothing cliche about it. 😛
I mean, sure each concept is cliche,
but the way they handled it was not.
It was really original. The whole concept of Contractors. 🙁
(Plus, it wasn't even romance? You
should really watch those last episodes.)

Hope they would take more out of manga because i think the manga's storyline is more original, until now that is. The anime was good but had a lot of cliches and i also read the manga first and then saw the movie, because i thought it had the same storyline. The movie totally left confused, like since when could hovac walk, when did Huges come back from the dead and since when is Al cosplaying as Ed? 😕
then i saw the anime which was , for me, a disappointment compared to the manga because it didn't fallow the story as close but it was kind of a relieved because it would be annoying if everything would be the same because you know whats going to happen and with a different story line, everybody is wondering "whats next". But only if the anime writers could have come-up with a better plot but they did a good job, it could have been worse.
I don't think that the new season is going to start with the point where the anime and manga divide and fallow the flow of the manga.
But maybe they are going to take some characters from the manga, like Lin Yao and May Chang(which are one of my favorites) and make it intertwined with the story they developed for the anime and continue with the anime story and maybe make the end alike.
I don't think it would be smart to keep the gate "thing", but I'm probably not right anyway because if they ditched the gate, they would have made the movie for nothing, (other then keeping the fans satisfied and their pockets full).
They can go either way, only thing you could do is sit and wait for it to come out( 6 whole months 😢 )
But also a new season of DtB, god does listen!!!
Want to wake-up in the morning, and when my feet touch the ground, Satan would shiver, look up and say "Oh, shit, she's awake"
YES!!! I have been waiting for this....I like the anime, and the movie, but I hope they show them going back, because I feel bad for Whinry....but YEAH!!! A new part of one of my favorite series!! 😀

Darn and here I thought it was a sequel but it's just a remake( you can tell from the trailer). Apparently it's going to be faithful to the actual manga. I wonder how that's going to turn out since I actually enjoyed the anime way more than the manga.
Still, I can't wait to see it though.^-^
oookayy... to revive this thread...
anybody watch it? i liked it but thought it would begin differently. first episode though. they can do whatever. i just hope it will stick very close to the manga like they said it would.
but... continuation of the second best anime ever!!! hells yeah!!
