I enjoyed it myself. Scanning for resources was extremely tedious though.

Now, my question is, do you get to see what a quarian looks like? 😛

They might not even show Tali's face in Mass Effect 3...

I started playing yesterday, even though I should've been studying for a midterm. I'd pre-ordered the Collector's Edition from Amazon. Definitely been amazing so far!

Just beat it last night, and it was pretty good. They really fixed the combat part, but I didn't like how they simplified the power leveling and weapons system (I still don't see the need for those thermal clips). Plus, the game glitched for me at times when I was using cover and because of those glitches I died way more than I should have (Like when I try to leave cover and go around the corner, I instead climb up an invisible ledge and become stuck in midair with no way to go into cover). I haven't heard anyone else get glitches like that so it might be just me.

I'd give it a 8.5/10.

That actually happened to me too...

This game is not scientist friendly. I seriously wished they would just leave out any references to current science and just put in a bunch of mumbo jumbo which would have been much better. Case in point, quantum entanglement does not allow fast-than-light communications. Don't even get me started on the insane fallacies regarding genetics...

The combat is definitely better in 2 than in 1. But... the story telling was immensely dissappointing at the end. They explained absolutely nothing, and the premise of the quasi-ending was so ludicrous I am almost positive I will not play 3. The characters are more shallow this time around, with much less dialogue than in 1 which I really enjoyed. Side quests are very much improved, which I didn't bother to do in ME1 for obvious reasons. The scanning for resources makes me want to slap the guy who thought it was a good idea.

Overall I think this is a series that has taken 1 step forward and 3 steps back.I don't mind that it's become more of a FPS shooter than RPG since I thoroughly enjoy those, but what sets this series apart was the compelling stories and characters which seemed to take a major back seat to everything else. It really makes me wonder how much did EA have to do with some of the changes.

I haven't played the first one (but I saw a friend play it, and it kind of spoiled several things...)

Anyway, is possible to Romance Ashley and then sent her to her dead?, I wonder what kind of effect that could have in mass effect 2 plot line (I think, I will borrow Mass effect 1 before my second playthrough of mass effect 2) 🙂

@chaoswind
I can tell you that. You can try to romance her and get to pretty much the end of her romance dialogue. The actual sexing happens after the mission in which you can let her die.
So if you try to romance her and let her die, it will simply be as if you never tried anything with her at all.

Anyway, I love this game a great deal. There are, however, a few things I like a lot less.
I feel ME2 is far too much of an action game instead of an RPG.
I do like how they scrapped the flawed item system they had (carrying around 70 guns was a bit of a pain) and the streamlining of the abilities (I only ever used the points to get to the next unlock in the skill tree anyway), the new way of using biotics is awesome, the class exclusive abilites are great (except for the engineers drone, god that thing sucks balls), characters have more depth and the side quests are much better.

However, I would have liked a few more weapons, maybe 4 or 5 in each class. More actual stats and some different armors. (I only have 2, I don't get the damn collectors edition here and a bunch of other stuff you can only get at freaking gamestop, which doesn't exist here)
I also don't like how certain powers don't effect enemies with armor or shields. That wasn't a problem in the first game but now it is.
I also hate the thermal clips. It's explain it as a technological advance, being able to shoot more bullets per minute, since no more overheating. But the way I see, infinite ammo is a much bigger advantage.
Now, after every big battle, I see myself scouring the room for thermal clips and not using some weapons because they have too little spare ammo.

Overall though, it's a great improvement and I absolutely love it, despite it's flaws.
After shutting myself inside for a weekend to play this, I finished my first run after 30 hours at level 22 with an infiltrator, with only doing about 2 or 3 side missions.

Now on to my second run as an adept, but this time I'm gonna take it slow and try getting with miranda, screw ashley.

I beat this game as a full paragon, I romanced Tali.
She had by far the best character depth among the romance options.

Expected though, since she's an "old" character from ME1.
Made a save after I saved the universe(again), hopefully they'll bring tali over from ME2 to ME3.
Found it abit disappointing when my romance option from ME1 just blew me over, and started with shady stuff.

I have a question.... if I import ME1 Shepart, with the council alive... that makes a HUGE impact in the history line? because, I am hating that Bastard Undina with every vanguard cell of my body...

BETTER yet, can I cause Undina's dead in ME1? just to never see his face again...

If you count them being alive and still having a stick up their asses for never believing you like they did the first time a huge impact, then yeah.

No you can't kill Udina, but you can have him serve under Anderson which pisses him off so much.
